Hi Ladies! I just joined the site today and I see how far along everyone is! The love of my life is telling me I do everything way too early! I booked at Majestic Gardens 2 weeks ago for my Fall (November 2011) wedding... and don't know when I should be booking my bridal shower, when I should be picking out bridesmaid dresses? etc. Is there such thing as too soon??

No such thing as too soon really but do it in steps. if you booked your RH now you want to do photo, video and DJ. Then limos and florist Get your dress before you BM dresses. I just ordered my wedding dress for my August wedding and I plan on having my girls order their BM dresses in January. I would have prefered November but its the holidays.
Take your time and enjoy it. From what I hear, this is the fun part! As for your shower, wait that out. Usually someome else hosts it for you.
Maybe an engagement party??

Thanks for the reply! I know I'm never going to have an engagement party... I got engaged a year ago (a month after I met her...) and no one acknowledged anything or did anything for me. I just thought that was something I was never going to have....
I have my wedding dress... (we were supposed to sign out Domestic Partnership in April and ended up holding off) So my dress is in my closet ready to go!!!
Do you think its too late for me to have an engagement party? I never even thought about it till now... hmm

bridal shower you can probably wait on - but there really is no 'too soon'. Definitely start looking into photographers, djs, and getting ideas for your dress. I got my dress 3 weeks ago and it's kind of early.
i looked at BM dresses back in june (yeah crazy), but have since changed my mind a million times about them. we're gonna' go in january to find and order some.
take your time but start getting those things checked off your list! from what i hear the next year and change will fly by!
ETA: didn't see that you have your dress already.

there's no such thing as booking too soon - esp when things get booked up so quickly! we booked our RH a year and a half in advance!!
as for BM dresses, when i went with my girls a few weeks ago - the lady suggested that we do it 6-8 months in advance - main reason that she said 8 was bc i'm having one shipped to FL and in case it gets lost, they can resend another one.
bridal shower - u have tons of time! i feel like the ones i've been to were 2-3 months before the wedding date
and you don't need an engagement party if you don't want to have one!

I'm so happy I see other people who are getting married at Majestic Gardens Also!!!! I just put down my deposit 2 weeks ago and I am SO EXCITED!!!!
As for everything else.... I think I am going to not have the engagement party.... and my mom and sister will plan me a beautiful bridal shower. :D
I need to find a photographer... I am so picky with that!!! I have my videographer, my fiancee's friend offered to DJ our event as a gift which I thought was great.... limo's- I don't know when I am supposed to book that! Save the dates? yes/no? I have no idea!!!
My wedding dress is done... and my BM are not cooperating (we are doing our sisters... so 2 of my sisters and 2 of my fiancee's sisters) I went with my sister on Friday and she tried on a million for me, but color themed? I'm not sure yet. I either want to do sage green dresses, red dresses, or have each one of my girls pick a color of the rainbow (PRIDE!!!)

I am doing sage colored dresses bill levkoff is my girls BM dresses. They were acutally surprisingly easy when it came to picking a dress.

Bridal shower is usually a month or two before the wedding. You'll probably want to finalize your guest list before planning it since everyone that's invited to the shower has to be invited to the wedding. And let your fam plan it! One thing you shouldn't have to worry about! As for BM dresses, I think 4 months is sufficient. You don't want to order them too early and pressure your BMs into staying the same size or not getting preggers. All you should worry about now is save the dates, which can go out up to 8months before, and booking all your vendors which you seem to be doing well with! There's nothing wrong with planning early, unless your're a second-guesser. LOL. Booking and planning early means peace of mind, but also gives you room to change your mind a million times!

i l-o-v-e the rainbow idea... but rather then having them in different colored dresses, why not have them in a black dress with different colored shoes and accents. ^ i like that one, just no stockings.. thats ugly lol. go for different colored belts/sashes... and shoes and bouquets. then in your bouquet have all white with one of each color rose in it. i kinda love that idea.
