BRIDAL SHOWER CATASTROPHE!!!!
first, let me start off by saying that i was initially very upset because my shower is going to be so late. I was enagged once before and 11 days before the wedding the whole thing fell apart. I don't know, if because of that, my mom and sister waited so long and so close to the wedding to plan my shower (or do and buy so many things non shower related, but we'll put that to the side for now)
I am not supposed to know about my shower. It supposed to be a surprise. But, through no fault of my own, random people have be coming up to me and telling me all about my shower, like specific details. I guess they think I know about it.
The shower is at a cafe close to my home (which was another problem all on its own, b/c most of the people coming to my shower are off the boat old world italian and this place sells fun stuff we would like, but not to their taste, but again, we will put this to the side) This morning, my mom calls me and says, is there a fire on our street? I said no, why? The ladies that she works for at her school were saying that a bunch of parents were calling in saying they were stuck on 38th street (my block) behind several fire trucks and that their kids would be late. I told her I would call her back when I left the house to see if it was near us. I call her later and i told her, the fire is at least 2 blocks away. I could see fire trucks, but nothing else. She then tells me that the fire was at the cafe. (Now she doesn't know that i know all about the shower)
When she is telling me this, there is so much nervousness in her voice, I feel so bad.
She already called FH and told him that she heard from other people in her school that the cafe was completely destroyed and that they will need to find a new place to hold my shower and they she will go to two other restaurants near us to see if they have that date available.
Please keep your fingers crossed for us ladies and lots of LIW prayers that one of those two restaurants has the original date of my shower available! Its so close, it may already be booked and its going to be bad enough to call everyone and tell them the new location of the shower!
I don't even want to think about what will happen if the date changes and everything else that will entail, from people who could come, and now can't and OMG what a mess!
