Bridal shower favors: How much to spend?

I am a BM in one of my BM's weddings ... our weddings are 20 days apart ... it's getting a little crazy. Anyway, for her shower I am in charge of favors, and I honestly have no idea what is a decent amount to spend on favors. I am being told to buy 50 because we're expecting 40. What's an appropriate amount to spend? I feel like what I found is so expensive, but I'm probably being stingy.

(Bit of back story: the other BMs are her two sisters, who are doing the majority of shower planning since it's out of state and they recognize I'm trying to plan my own wedding as well, which is great and very understanding of them. This is really my only responsibility, excepting a few creative projects that I want to do as well.)

My mom bought these and is filling them with candies so i guess in total they will be around $1.50 or so. If you buy the colored M&M's then the price will go up because they are pricier than hard candies what i'm having.

But of course the other BMs want me to find deep purple tealights, which is making everything so much more expensive because I can't find anything and when I can, they're scented and fancy and they don't need to be! So I am a little frustrated.

Alone this will run me ~ $125. I just wasn't sure if it was a good amount to spend for a shower favor. Like I said, it probably is me just being stingy because I've been paying so much for other stuff for my own wedding, you know?

I did the favors for my own shower. I bought mini shower gels and shampoos from Bath & Body Works and wrapped two per person. I made a small tag that said 'from my shower to yours!'

The total spent was $3 per person since the mini bottles were $1.50 each.
