I've been invited to a bridal shower and they are going to incorporate a lot of Irish elements into the shower and their wedding. I was thinking of giving this wedding blanket as a shower gift since it is Irish themed. What do you think?
I personally would stick to getting a gift off of the registry.

This!! I think that the registry is there because they are gifts that they want and you may as well spend your money on something that they really want, instead of something that they may like, or may hate..
I didn't get any gifts that were not on the registry and I was soooo happy about that. I probably would have returned the ones not on the registry and would have been mad if I couldn't have returned them.

I love that blanket and since you can get in engraved it will have meaning to the couple. If I got something like this I would love it even though it wasn't on my registry

Thank you for everyone's input. I just thought it was such a cool idea, especially since it can be personalized. Just because it may not be on their registry doesn't mean it isn't something they would like. Maybe they just didn't think of every specific item they would like.
I thought it was unique and since they are Irish they would appreciate it.

I wouldn't get something for someone not on their registry. If I personally got something like this I wouldn't be mad, but would find it to be a waste. Maybe if it was something small, but I would have no place to put something like that and would probably end up donating it.

THIS! I always make gift baskets and give personal gifts to all of my friends @ their shower. It's nice to get stuff not on the registry b/c you obviously can't register for stuff like this!

I thought it was a very thoughtful idea too. Like you said, you can't put these types of items on your registry and being they are very Irish I thought they would love it, especially that I can get it personalized with their names and wedding date. I thought it would be a great blanket for them to cuddle up with together on a chilly night.
