Bridal Shower Gift Suggestions ... <3

A close girlfriend is having her shower in September. As one of her BMs I would like to do something special for her gift wise. Ive thought of an 'Italian' basket since her and I always joke about being Italian :: hand motion :: Ive also done the honeymoon basket before and the baking basket before. Towel cakes too I have done.

Anything more fun? Unique? Cute etsy finds you couldnt live without other than a name plaque (not a channa but I am considering one for her like I received with archetictural designs) or a name hanger?

HELP!

I made a holiday basket for my sister in law. I made a big basket of all different holiday decorations for all the holidays throughout the year. She loved it.

FOr my 4 bff's previous showers, as the BP we got together and decided on the basket theme. One girl we did all rooms of the house, another we did seasons, another we did all types of parties and each BM took one, and recently we did her favorite band and each BM took an album. Maybe the other BM's would like to do this with you. Every single one of the girls has really loved it.

I got one of my good friends a channa plaque from mysweetmemories.com and she loved it!!!! She put it on her table at the wedding!

My dad & step-mother paid for our hotel room for the night of the wedding. They gave me a basket with a little certificate saying they got us the honeymoon sutie and they paired it with a really pretty white night gown and robe. I thought that was a great gift!

At my shower I got a throw blanket that had hearts, our names and our wedding date on it which I love!! If you don't like the channa plaque idea check out personalizationmall.com they have such awesome gift ideas!!!

I did a honeymoon basket for my friend....put in sunscreen and advil and trial meds and a digital camera (this is before everyone had one!)

What things does she like? We had a shower for my friend and we always go on wine tours so I made a wine poem for her. I went to liquor store and found the funny named wines and incorporated them into a poem.

I did a wine basket with the following poems & sayings for my FSIL. It's like a bottle of wine for each milestone. It was a big hit at the shower.

Wedding Night- (white tulle)--Champagne

The night you have dreamed of is finally here.
The future surrounds you with hope and yet fear.
You’ve wanted so long to find your mate.
Sip this wine and toast this date.
The night is meant for you to share.
Enjoy each other a perfect pair.

First Dinner party- (gold tulle) -white wine

As you open your home to all of your friends to entertain and eat.
It’s a place for old friends to catch up and new ones to meet.
When the night is over two great hosts can share this bottle of wine.
But don’t sit down yet pull up your sleeves because now it’s clean up time.

First fight- (black tulle)-red wine

When fights occur as they sometimes will and tempers are steaming hot.
Pour a glass take a sip and be thankful for what you’ve got.
For in a marriage if everyone agreed it would certainly be a bore.
And by asking for my friends hand Jordan’s surely in for more!

Christmas Eve- (red and green tulle)-Beaujolais

A wise man turned to a friend and said wine is better than beer.
And now is the season for friends and fun and lots of holiday cheer.
So pop the cork and relax a bit and when the night is through,
kiss goodnight, close your eyes and Santa will be good to you.

First Anniversary- (cream tulle) -White wine

Tonight you’ve been married a year one wonders where the time goes.
No longer are you newlyweds, soon you’ll be pro’s.
I hope the days have found you both in good health and spirit.
Keep saying I love you one always needs to hear it.
Now toast this date known as the first but certainly not the last.
And as you build your future don’t ever forget the past.

1st Baby-(pink and blue tulle)-Champagne or cider

The news that a baby will soon share your life will make you a mother not only a wife.
You’ll see it through good times and sometimes bad.
Leslie the loving mother, and Jordan the dearest dad.
Now Jordan must drink this one alone, and Leslie with empty glass.
Sit back and relax nine months they quickly pass!

I love the wine poem! Too bad she isnt a drinker lol I feel like I have played out all the fun ideas. I did see something where you get cute dish towels for all the holidays and string them along a clothesline. The issue is I didnt start early enough so its going to be tough to find everything now - arg! Same with the holiday basket! I wouldnt know where to get stuff off season/holiday!

I may hit up etsy and get her a bunch of things from there. Keep the ideas coming though! I love the personal ideas.

I can share that my sister in law did a fabulous 'Breakfast in Bed' basket from my neice/nephew. It was such a great idea! My sister also got me cooking lessons. Another fantastic gift for those who arent sure what to give!

There is also a candle poem that I recited at my sisters bridal shower and had each bridesmaid walk the candles up to her. It was cute... each BM had their own pair to present to her.

Looking for a truly memorable gift for the bride-to-be?

The candle poem for a bridal shower is just that! The poem accompanies a basket full of colored candles for the bride and groom to light when they reach certain milestones in their relationship.

A timeless tradition, this bridal shower gift poem is a really sweet way to celebrate the couple's future together!

A Basket of Candles For (Bride's name)

A basket of candles that come in a pair
in all different colors, for you two to share.
The white ones burn first;
they are wrapped in white lace
to celebrate your first married night
in your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner;
burn with the first company you have over for dinner.
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight;
use them to burn while making up all night.
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
for your first married Valentine’s Day.
Now, when your first year of marriage is through,
the cream anniversary pair, will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright;
celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
you can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you’d put these away,
take the light blue ones out for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left - for the big 'two five' -
the anniversary pair that will keep your love alive.
Congratulations (Bride and Groom)
on the start of your forever.
May the two of you always be happy together.
And burn these candles just the way we said,
but please don’t forget: blow them out before bed!

For this gift, you will need two of each color candle:

White
Green
Navy blue
Pink
Cream
Red
Purple
Light blue
Silver - although the bridal shower candle poem doesn't mention this color directly, silver symbolizes twenty-five years of marriage.

Apart from the color of the candles, you have creative freedom over what they will look like. You might stock your basket with candles in different sizes, shapes, even scents. The bridal shower poem only specifies the size of the green tapers.
For a creative way to wrap the white bridal candles in lace, cut a strip that just overlaps at the 'front' of the candle. Stick a piece of double-sided tape between the candle and the inmost stretch of lace. Then pin the overlapping ends of lace together with a small, lovely brooch. This look adds even more romance to the gift.

Print the poem on attractive paper for the bride to keep long after the party. Tuck the candle poem into the bridal shower basket. At the party, read it aloud to the bride. But be warned: the bridal shower candle poem has been known to induce tears!
