Bridal shower invite question (and vent!).

Bridal shower invite question (and vent!).

Are kids normally invited to the bridal shower? I was under the impression that they weren't unless you wanted the flower girl to be there.

Also, my mom asked me for a list of the invitees and I invite FH's family (minus the kids), my family, the bridal party and some people I wanted to be there. My mom is paying for it all so I couldn't invite all the women we invited to the wedding.

Now FSILs called MOH to ask if there was a reason the kids weren't invited and if we 'overlooked' their mother's best friend and the sister's best friend or there was another reason.

The reason is...:drumrollplease: I don't know them!

Mind you, FSILs and I don't have the best relationship. They're a bit on the evil side and I'm a bit on the 'don't put up with being bullied' side lol.
Thanks for listening ladies!

I had 3 little girls at my bridal shower, 12, 9, and 6 year old and they aren't in the bridal party. Two were my cousins and the other is FH's cousin.

Not sure how many kids you have?

I had FH's family(some I've never met before until that day) and FMIL's friend. They are all invited to the wedding and those were the ladies FMIL wanted.

I'm having no kids at my shower.

I'm by no means the authority on proper shower etiquette, as I am the first of my friends to be getting married (and have never attended a shower myself), but to me, it seems like kids are generally not invited.

My list has a combo of my BP, other girls I'm inviting to the wedding, my mom's friends, and FMIL's friends.
While I have not met a lot of her friends, a) I think it's still polite to extend the invite (chances are they won't show anyway) and b) Maybe you'll get a gift out of it?

I'm not a lover of inviting people I don't know, so I understand exactly where you're coming from. My mom is also paying for the whole thing...I think just let it go and if it really would bring peace to all, invite them and keep your fingers crossed they dont show but send a gift

I would think children shouldn't be invited.

What happens if you open up a gift that was purchased from Expressions?? How would that child's mother feel when their kid asks 'Mommy, whats that purple shiny thing that looks like a banana?'

Just sayin ...

no children!!!!!

my shower invite says 'adult celebration'

honestly a shower is hectic as is with gifts, games, mingling etc

a kid running around is no bueno
and you want your guests to enjoy themselves, it should be a fun, laid back girly day!

There were a TON of women at my shower whom I didn't know.... But they were close friends of my FMIL. I felt that she would want them there to be supportive of me and FH.

As far as children, only my FG came. She's four and had a BLAST! She was the best helper when it came to gifts! No other children however!
