Bridal Shower issues..

Bridal Shower issues..

Would it be totally wrong if I plan my own, with the assistance of my mom & BP...

Here's some back story

My MOH isn't financially stable, my mom doesn't have money either..and I think she feels bad cause they cant throw me a proper shower..So I was thinking of telling her I can help plan & with the financials and act like I had no clue lol I have no problems with this and neither does FH, as long as I keep the costs low....

Opinions? Thoughts?

I think its fine. My sister got married when I was in my teens & my mom is anti-showers (b/c they are not all about her ), so I helped with the planning & my sister paid for the whole thing.

You need to do what you need to do. It just smells that it can't fully be done in honor of you. Can't it be done at someones home? There are ways to make it mucho cheap.

What if you just 'donated' some money to help with the planning process but stayed out of the actual planning? I mean that would only work if you really trusted your mom and moh to do the right things with the money. I don't want to make assumptions.

Do you have any other friends or bridesmaids that you can call on for help?

I wish you the best of luck!

i say go for it!!! No reason anyone needs to know who really paid! Maybe you can give them a set amount and the rest they can help with. Yet still it can be a surprise on when and where it is!!

Just some ideas....maybe someone could have it at their home, or backyard. Instead of having it catered have each person make a dish.Maybe salad, baked ziti homemade cake or cupcakes, punch, . I just would encourage them to do this. For me it would be just as fun and mean as much that they put time and creativity in not just necessarily money.JMO

I think it's a great idea. I helped to plan mine. I could see that my mom didn't really know what to do at all, and my BP are from all different parts of my life so they don't necessarily know each other that well. It eased up a lot of the tension and we've all had a great time with it.

I also scheduled my hair and makeup trial for that day so I could practice getting ready for the wedding day.

I just went to a shower that did this and it was great. They had homemade baked ziti, sausage and peppers, rolls and cold cuts and little munchies. It was fine. Then they had cake and homemade cookies. It was low key and very nice.

absolutely fine... My cousin planned her own and it was FINE... the only thing was that we weren't able to scream SURPRISE!!! when she walked in.. Everyone knew she planned it. But I think its FINE to do this. Be very proud of yourself that you can manage to pay for it along with the wedding and any other living expenses you have

I love the idea of having at someones house.

It's totally fine. If it were me, I'd give them checks with the proper amounts, but not the caterer's name, so you can be a bit surpised by the food.

My mom gets really anxious having guests over. She also never eats out, so she doesn't know anything about local restaurants, or where to have a shower. (It also doesn't help that Germans don't have showers, so she's a bit unfamiliar with it.)

Since I'm the entertainer of the family, I am helping her find a caterer, and also helped her find a store where to get supplies. (It will be at her home, and she would panic if she had to cook!) I told her to ask her friends for guidance, and apparently, it's working out. I refuse to know when it will be, or other details.

Why not? If my BM's or my mom couldn't afford it-you bet I would throw myself my shower!

I think its fine. Why not give your mom a budget and let her plan it with your help money wise this way it will still be a surprise and you wont technically know when, where or what?
