How far before the wedding should a shower be given. Is 5 weeks to close to the wedding date in your opinion. I am trying to help FMIL plan FSIL's shower for 7/7/07. TIA

normally i think showers are between 2 and 3 months before the wedding. I think one month before is cutting it a little close and people may not be as likely to give much as far as gifts knowing that in a month they also have to pay fro a wedding gift.

My personal opinion is, if I were throwing a shower for someone who was getting married in July, I would throw it in late April/early May.

I have been to showers anywhere from 5 months before to a week before so it all really depends on the situation.

Not quite sure, my wedding is 4/29/07 My sister in law who is one of my BM's, is prego and her due date is 3/5/07. One time when we were talking she asked me if I minded if my Bridal Shower was in April. I said I didn't mind. My Birthdy is 4/20. I Honteslty thought it would be earlier. But knowing my MOH, she probably was not the ONE TO GET THE BALL ROLLING!!!! i can count on that. And Not on her, my MOH
