Bridal Shower Question...

Bridal Shower Question...

Hey girls, for those girls that were invited to a bridal shower, but could not go, are they still required to send a gift to the bride??

I'm curious because I had my shower last night and a lot of people who were invited did not come so I pretty much got barely anything from my registry and still need a lot more stuff. So I wanted to know if it was common courtesy to send a present? Thanks

If they were a good friend or a family member they should send a gift. Was your shower a surprise? Because that may be why nothing has been sent yet. I have been invited to some of FH's friend's wife/fiance's stuff and I was particularly close and felt that I was invited just to get a gift. In that case I don't send a gift.

Yeah only close family and friends were invited to the shower, most of the family came, but not friends and FH's family. Yes it was a surprise, so I guess, hopefully, they are in route, lol

Re: Bridal Shower Question...

I have received a few gifts from FH's family who wasn't able to attend my shower yesterday.

A few friends have said they would send something. At the shower, I had gifts from people who couldn't make it (they sent their gift along with someone else who came).

I would say some people will give you a gift, especially if they wanted to come to the shower but were unable for some reason. Some friends may not realize to do this, so I wouldn't expect every person to do this.

'Required'? No. But definitely customary. I have sent a gift to every bridal shower I was ever invited to, whether I was able to make it or not.

I agree with the previous poster that people might be waiting until after your shower to send the gift, as they wouldn't have wanted to ruin a surprise.

I generally send a gift if I can't make it. It depends on the relationship as to the amount I spend. I had plans and couldn't go to the FH sister's shower but I sent a decent gift with her mother. I agree that if you started getting gifts this week, that might have given the surprise away. Also there was no mail today. You may also get some items for your wedding. I would wait b4 getting anything.
