bridal shower question
Re: bridal shower question
No, showers do not have to be a surprise. Many people are preferring to know their shower date to avoid what you mentioned. Another option however if you would still like for it to be a surprise is to pick out a pre-planned outfit and give it to your FH. He can then give it to the shower host(s) and when you arrive, if you're in sweats, you have something nice to change into.

Re: bridal shower question
Mine was not.....well the date wasn't a surprise and the place ended up not being a surprise but I also am not a planner when it comes to clothes so I def. would have showed up in sweats and dirty.

Re: bridal shower question
Mine was not and I preferred it that way.. I was able to get my hair done, wear a nice dress, and be prepared.. I even had say in some of the decisions with my shower, not cause I was a bridezilla, but because my mom really wanted my shower to be what I wanted...
Re: bridal shower question
I think people always tend to find out about surprises anyway. But I do have this fear too- I told people to give me some idea so that I can be prepared.
Re: bridal shower question
I actually want mine to be a surprise which is surprising LOL i always hate surprises but with this i kind of want to walk into a hall with 60 people who yell surprise at me. I know it will give my FH joy if hes the one who brings me. i dont know... just my opinion!
Re: bridal shower question
I want to be surprised but I hate to be caught off-guard. I am very type-A so a total surprise is not something i'd enjoy. But i think there is a difference between knowing when your shower will be and planning your shower. Knowing the date and time is not a bad thing. The place and details will all be a surprise.
Re: bridal shower question
They don't have to be a surprise. I have the same fear as you. Then again, I don't think whoever is throwing you the shower (your MOH, BMs, mother, etc) would let you show up at your shower a complete disaster!

Re: bridal shower question
Mine will not be a surprise. I told my girls that I wanted to at least know the time and place but don't need the details. I am just not a fan of complete surprises.
Re: bridal shower question
I want mine to be a surprise also. I don't want to know anything about it. Honestly I am such a planner and usually the social organizer of everything that I want to be the one who knows nothing. I don't care if I show up in sweats (hopefully showered though haha). I plan on giving my mom or MOH a dress I would like to wear about 6 months before the wedding and they can bring it so I can change. Everything else I need to be totally involved in but the shower I want to be a total surprise.
Re: bridal shower question
I don't think I've ever been to a shower that was a surprise, but it all depends on what you want. I think the bacherlorette party is more of a surprise than the shower.
Re: bridal shower question
i want mine to be a surprise, but i think my mom will set it up so that i receive some sort of fake invitation to another party so that i won't look completely disasterous...lol
Re: bridal shower question
It's entirely up to you. My shower wasn't a total surprise - I wanted to know the date and time. I didn't know the location or who was attending.
