Bridal Shower question??

Bridal Shower question??

Okay - so FMIL was giving FH & I the cold shoulder for the last week. We found out from FFIL that it was because we were not planning on inviting FMIL's brother's 3 children.
Well in order to keep the peace for the last 2 weeks we are living at home, we agreed to invite the additional 6 people on the basis of his parents paying for the additional plates.

I don't really know these 3 female cousins we are now inviting to the wedding...i've never even been introduced to them - so my question is, should my mom invite them to my bridal shower?

I don't think it's necessary at all. The bridal shower is really for you and the people close to you. We're inviting 180 people to the wedding (about half of them are women) and the list I gave my sister (MOH) for my shower had 40 people on it and we left out a lot of FH's family that I don't know and haven't met, not because I don't want them there but just because it should be the women close to the bride IMO.

I don't think its necessary. You don't have to invite all female guests to the shower.

I'm going to step out on a limb here and say that FH doesn't have a close knit family, or many gatherings, if you've never met his first cousins. I did read that correctly, right? FMIL's sibling's children...so first cousins?

I am hardly warm and fuzzy when it comes to family stuff like this, but I'm going to have to break character here and disagree and say that if these are in fact FH's first cousins, they should be invited. But hell, I have out to FH's third cousins invited to mine! A whole slew of them actually...and I'm praying they all come, because they make up majority of my shower list! So I'm probably not the one to go by here...but different strokes, under normal circumstances if you were saying a third cousin, I'd say not necessary unless you have a very tight family situation like my FH's family has, but a first cousin I think should be.

Nope not a close family at all. In fact, the last time we saw them was at his other's cousin's funeral back in November. And yes, they are his 1st cousins.
I def understand and appreciate your opinion...I know the biggest part of me just wants to say f- it, theyve never spoken a single word to me i'm not inviting them...but then theres the part of me that says wellll they are FH's cousins & if my FMIL gave this much of a heartache about them being invited to the wedding, will she do the same if they arent invited to the bridal shower....
