Bridal Shower Question- A Little long winded....

My mom told my sister (my MOH) she should contact my other 5 bm's about contributing to my bridal shower, basically to ask for a specific amount of $$$ or ask them to do a specific job- favors, decorations, etc. My sister came to me for advice on whether or not she should ask my one bridesmaid, who lives in florida, to contribute.

I was in this friend's wedding years ago and don't remember if she even had a bridal shower...if she did I certainly wasn't asked to and didn't contribute.

She doesn't have much money (She has been saving for her plane ticket to come since I got engaged- and is going to buy it once she gets her tax returns) and has 3 kids.

I told my sister she can email her letting her know about the shower and saying that she is obviously invited and if she wants to help she can.

Do you think thats ok? Should she not even mention helping?

Opinions on how to handle this?

PS-- My other BM lives in Las Vegas- I told my sister she should ask her to help because she flies for free and will most likely be coming to the shower, plus she is single and doesn't have anyone to support. Right? Wrong? Opinions on this?

Wow... that's a hard situation, but I still think your sister should ask anyway just so she feels she's apart of being in the wedding. maybe even ask her to think of some games and bring them... not about money or bringing favors. I think games or just seeing if she can come to help with the decorating b/c that doesn't cost extra money. I'm sure your other BM's will understand the situation.

I think that your sister should not single her out in any way. There are many inexpensive or non monetary ways she could contribute to the shower and still feel a part of everything. The best thing is just to call her and talk it through. She might feel worse about being excluded for money purposes that she would about not really being able to help or something like that.

that's a tough one. if you don't think she's going to go to the shower, will she really know if anyone else was asked to contribute? if she's not going to be there and will have no way of knowing that anyone else was asked to contribute, i wouldn't ask her. otherwise, think of the absolute least expensive thing she can do----like come early to help with the decorating or something.

I am 99.9% certain she will not attend..that would require 2 trips up to NY and leaving her kids twice (She is still married but her husband runs a business and can't really have the kids alone for too long)
