I have a big problem with my FH brother's girlfriend. I do not think she is a nice person at all. She has insulted me and humiliated me at functions. The brother has been going out with her for about a year and probably will get engaged to her. I DO NOT want her at my bridal shower at ALL.! My mom feels that this is not right and I she should come. What are your opinions???? Please be honest. TYIA

Re: Bridal Shower question and Vent
thats def a tough one!! Are you having a big shower where most woman invited to the wedding are invited? Or a smaller one where its more close family and friends? If its a smaller one you may be able to get away with it. if its the larger kind, its going to be much harder.
(or you can ask your bridemaids to accidently lose her invitation...)

It's stressful, to be sure, but from your OP it looks like this woman is going to be your SIL. In the interest of keeping long-term peace in your family, I think you should invite her, but seat her away from you and ask a BM to keep an eye on her.

if they dont adhere to how you feel thats WRONG!
If she makes you uncomfortable and she isn't a nice person she should be left out!
This is all about YOU!!! You have more rights than she does. If she doesn't like it, tell her to SUCK IT

I love this approach. BUT nasty people will always be nasty people whether they are married into the family or not. Appeasing them usually makes it a whole lot worse

I don't know that's a tough one. I have a big mouth so I would fight back or tell her how she was making me feel. I don't think not inviting her to the shower is the right thing to do though. I think you'll open up a whole new can of worms. Everyone must pick their battles and if this is one that is important to you then you can take it on. but personally you will be so overwhelmed and happy at your shower I can't imagine this person bringing you down....

Unfortunately I'd think you probably do have to invite you to her shower. Not inviting her would be an obvious omission, especially if she's going to be your sister-in-law. This would probably cause more grief for you in the future than just having her at your shower for one day.

Re: Bridal Shower question and Vent
is she younger than you? If I were you I would talk to her in an adult manner and lay all your cards out on the table.. 'listen we both know we are not big fans of each other, but this is MY wedding and I am going to be PC about this. I would like for us to get along since it seems we could possible be FSILs.' and talk about things in a casual way so as not to set her off, but def stand your ground.. and if she starts again, DONT invite her. If she is a big girl and acts her age, then ok invite her but keep her away from you, and sick your BMs on her...

thats a very uncomfortable situation but in my opinion I wouldn't want her around if I felt that way

I think you should keep the peace and invite her. She is only making herself look bad when she acts this way. So shrug it off and let her look like the b*tch that she is. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
