Bridal Shower Questions

Bridal Shower Questions

I was hoping I could get some suggestions for a couple of things for my bridal shower.

The first is that I will be having a few kids. One cousin is bringing her 9 yr old daughter and 4 yr old son (she didn't have anyone to leave the little guy with b/c she's coming from out of state to attend). Another cousin is bringing her daughter who is almost 3. So far, those are the only kids I know of. I wanted to put together little bags with maybe some activities to keep them occupied. If anyone did this or has any suggestions, that would be great. The boy is throwing me off more than the girls obviously.

Also, we are not going to be doing any games. That would not go over well with my crowd. But I wanted to do something where I hand out prizes, candles, bath and body stuff, etc. At my cousin's bridal shower last yr, she had a timer when she was opening gifts and the person whose gift she was opening would get the prize. I thought it was a great idea. Only problem is that we have a lot of the same guests and I don't want to use her idea.
If anyone has any other idea, or something similar but not exact, please let me know.

TIA!

that is very considerate of you to buy things for the kids. I would put together a little bag with crayons and coloring books, stickers and maybe toy cars. for the 9yr old girl you can put in a craft kit or bead kits. if you will be outside you can put in bubbles too

as far as games but not games...we are doing the timer during gifts and also bingo during gifts. i know you said it may not go over well but it keeps everyone paying attention while you open gifts. you could also just do scratch off games (something similar to this although i did my own which says reveal a picture of the bride & groom and win a prize and the tickets that arent of me and FH is a baby pic of me) scratch off

The prize with the timer game is very common at bridal showers, so I think it's ok for you to use it!

Not sure about what to do in lieu of shower games, but for the little activity gift bags, go to Michael's or AC Moore! They have dollar bins filled with great toys for boys and girls- little wooden characters that come with markers to color (princesses and superheroes), silly putty, bubbles, playing cards (go fish, old maid, etc.). They had lots of great stuff and they'll still be cheap!

I agree! I was just at a baby shower where they did this and gave out bottles of wine for the timr game (I won one woo!) and I have actually never seen this before and liked it WAY better than bingo. I actually am not a fan at all of shower games....

Also, how about if you tie a ribbon to one chair at each table, and whoever sits in that chair gets a prize?

The one game I also kinda like is the game where you get points for random things in your bag and whoever has the most points wins a prize (but that might be because I always win!) Haha I carry around ridiculous things like sewing kits, tweezers, etc.

Thanks everyone. These are great ideas, really helpful.

@chris1082 - I actually love the idea of putting a ribbon on one or two chairs at each table. After opening presents, I can just announce that whoever is sitting in one of those chairs, please come up and get a gift.

Of course, my bf is on here, so no cheating for you Mel!

Cute idea, I also have sone kiddies coming to mine. How bout coloring books or little crafts from oriental trading?

What about just doing the gift bingo game? It's personal n it's not really a big game but it's fun n time goes by fast for guests so they're not bored! U can give out bath n body works stuff or something ad a prize. I also have seen putting a papeer under someones chair to see if they win the centerpiece. Hth!

We are doing a variation of this for my friend's shower. We are going to put a sticker on the back of one menu card at each table, or tape something to the bottom of a chair at each table (so no one knows that chair is special), and then announce for everyone to look on the back of the menu/under the chair and whoever is sitting in the lucky seat takes home the flower CP
