bridal shower tea?

bridal shower tea?

we're trying to find an affordable way to have a bridal shower for 70+ people. i was thinking about an afternoon tea. we'd serve various kinds of tea, coffee, finger sandwiches, cookies/crumpets. do you think that's too chintzy? any other ideas on how to keep costs down?

TIA!

I don't think it's chintzy at all. But that can get expensive too. I hosted a tea last summer for about 20 people and it cost me a fortune. Break down the costs to see if it makes sense to go the tea route. Also, those finger sandwiches are a royal pain in the arse to make!!!

I love the idea.

I also love the idea. My mom is doing a tea theme for my shower, but she is serving buffet style food. She's actually making it, which keeps costs down, I'm sure.
I went to a shower that was all tea sandwhiches, and I was STARVING! Thats just me though, I didnt know there would be like no food, so I went hungry.

My sister's friend had a tea for her bridal party at some place in Stony Brook. She said it was really nice and they had a good time.
