Bridal shower themes: RP FROM BHB

I actually posted it there thinking i was on the 08 board but hey ill probably get more ideas lol

Ok my MOH asked me for my guest list so she can check out places soon to get an idea, she likes to plan everything ahead of time and organize it lol. Anyways she had also asked me about any ideas for themes or ideas for the shower that I like...I have NOOOOO clue, what are some ideas any of you have...AND yes it will be a surprise but she wants some of my ideas

I have no clue, like you - but I think it is really nice of your MOH to care so much about your input! I never even really thought about a theme for a shower. I think everyone I've ever been to has pretty much been the same.

yeah its hard to think of themes for showers...i think she wants to make it a bit different and not the typical just sit eat, then open gifts most of the party. I have seen some themes, i know recently a girl at work went to a shower they did this hats and tea party theme. They all wore big extravagant hats, and had it at this garden type place and did this really cute theme.

Ive also seen a spa bridal shower, where you can also get messages and different treatments

yeah shes better than i am at these things lol...she was saying the other day how she has a book with color scheme, ideas, places and a bunch of other things lol

try of think of things you like. My sister loves to cook so I did a cooking/kitchen theme (see my post on the '08 board)

There are a ton of theme's though, if you google 'bridal shower themes' you'll be surprised to see how much you come up with!

I saw on here...one MOH did a honeymoon themed shower., they were going to Hawaii I believe and based the theme around that which I liked.

She can use your colors as a theme,
Theres always the good old 'Showers of happiness theme',

My cousin got engaged in Paris, and she also went to school there., her wedding caterers were French, so her sister had her shower in a French Restaurant and had lots of tulips- it was very Parisian., which I love....I would LOVE LOVE LOVE if my sister did a paris theme for me.(whre we got engaged).

Is there anything in particular that you like to do? Like hobbies? Maybe you can center it around something like that, like a shopping theme, or a vacation theme or a certain sport that you like to play?

well it definitely won't be shopping lol...yeah im trying to think of something I like and something that the guests would also like. But yeah i guess i can list a bunch of hobbies or even things i like to center around that

Do people usually do themes for the BS . I havent seen it. Its kinda tough to come up with a good theme for that. I guess you can do a beach theme, exotic theme, erotic/love theme, animal theme, flower theme, masquerade theme???

there is also something called an 'around the clock' shower which I always thought was a cute idea but couldn't do it because half of the people in my family just wouldn't get it.

I think it's something like each guest is give a 'time' of the day and they have to bring a gift that the bride would use at that time. So for example a guest who got 9am might get a coffee pot and the guest who got 2 am might bring a piece of lingerie...


OH I also just recently saw someone on the '07 board have a sex and the city bridal shower, THAT was really cute!

yeah theres TONS of themes, ive seen alot online...I like alot of them but the thing is with alot of themes guests buy things according to the theme...i would like to do the theme but guests just get us whatever off the registry lol.

I kinda like the fancy hat party lol, i was just reading it, but im guessing my shower will be in the winter, which is a few months before my wedding so having it at an outside garden type place is not going to work lol

hahaha i was JUST reading about the time of day, also theres around the world where guests are given a place in the world to buy a gift from or something that represents that place...only thing is exactly what you said, i dont know if our families are really gonna get it, especially the older guests...they'll probably be like why cant i just buy whatever off the registry why do i have to sit here and go through all this lol

hahaha my MOH brought up the lingerie party idea and i said im not sure how well that will work with alot of older guests lol

Yeah there are prob a million themes to do, I guess I have never thought about it. You can also do a winter theme if yours is going to be in the winter, or a flapper theme, (Roaring 20's theme) or a tea party theme, come to think of it, there are tons of themes for bridal showers, I can go on and on. Your favorite designer brand theme, makeup theme, your fav color theme...

I am so bad but I want mine to be in someone's home, in the early evening, and cocktails & hordouvers served instead, I would also love the dress code to be Sterpford Sheek Seriouslly this is what I want...

I am also really excited about learning how to cook so if they requested everyone made me a cook book of fav recipes I would LOVE it!
