Bridal Shower vent

Bridal Shower vent

I threw my best friend a bridal shower in february. Her wedding is in April. I threw the whole thing myself b/c her parents are not in this country. I had a guest list of around 40 people and did so much work myself.. I made the decorations, invites and really put together a beautiful shower... not to mention what it all cost me. All I got was a quick 'thank-you' from her. It really hurt my feelings. I get very upset thinking about it. Am I too sensitive? I thought that she would have had more to say. I have to get over the resentment b/4 her wedding.
She is in my bridal party and I plan to host a brunch to thank the BP and my mom for my shower (when they throw it)

Did any of you do something special for someone that put so much effort in to give you a wonderful event or day?

Wow! That's pretty crappy! I got a surprise engagement party and made sure I said thank you to everyone involved and sent out presonalized egreeting cards. I could have gotten gifts but I know that this is the beginning of many great surprises so I will present everyone who has helped me with a gift at my BP luncheon that I am hosting next summer and ensure that I never stop saying thank you.

Unfortunately some ppl don't have the sense to not realize that a quick thank you is not enough. I don't know what she is waiting for. Hang in there you did a great job for your friend so I'll give you a big THANK YOU for her!

jmo but her wedding hasnt come yet and she probably will do something for you... either way i am assuming you did all that work because she's your friend & you love her, not for a thank you, I would let it go.

That is sooo stinky! people just don't think sometimes. I love your idea of the thank you brunch! When I have my shower, I might steal it!

Idk, maybe I'm just inexperienced with these things... I've never been in a wedding... but I was planning on thanking my BM's and especially my super awesome MOH the night before the wedding and on the wedding day. I splurged a little on their gifts, esp. for my MOH, and I'm paying to get their hair done. I also booked the bridal suite for the night before the wedding and invited them all to stay for a little 'slumber party' after the rehearsal dinner... I was thinking I'd get them a thank you cake but I'm not sure, I might just do that at the dinner... but I'll have a bottle of champagne and prob some wine and crackers...

Either way I'm super appreciative and I hope they're not thinking otherwise... I thought the BP gifts and the rehearsal dinner were where the thank you's went down..

I agree that the thank you for being in the bridal party comes at the wedding.. but I dont know.. I might be wrong for just expecting more enthusiasm and heartfelt thanks for throwing her the bridal shower by myself.. and laying out close to $3,000 all by myself. I wasn't looking for a gift, but I just feel that her response was less than desirable after the time, effort and $ I put forth.

I will get back to you in April and let you know if she saved her appreciation for closer to the wedding.

But, you know .... all's good. whatever it is, it is. I won't let that ruin a good friendship. It has shown me not to be so wrapped up in my wedding moment to truly see what other people are doing for me, and to realize that people don't owe us anything just because we are the bride.. they do it out of love for us.. and in return we should show our love and appreciation.

I agree with this poster. Let's wait until after her wedding to see if she'll show her gratitude. Just remember, as you're a bride yourself, things can get a bit hectic with 2 months left to the weddign and she hasn't given you a full thank you as yet because she wants to do it in her own special way--she doesn't have the time to do so as of yet.

Last, if she doesn't--you're friends for a reason. Speak to her about it and tell her that you were hurt that she didn't appreciate all your hard work. If she's a real friend as you claim, she'll understand and apologize.

you might be taking it just a bit too personal right now (understandable) she may have been overwhelmed and have not even realized I am sure she is thankful being that you are close friends and just may have been too wrapped up in the moment to express that

try not to be upset

Maybe she didnt realize how much you were really responsible for? But still, she should have taken more time to show how appreciative she was even if she doesnt kow how much you really did for her.
