Is this an either/or situation??? I feel like thus is two completely different types of events! My 'wedding planner' says that customarily its one or the other....anyone else feel the same?

Your wedding planner said it's usually either one or the other? I've actually never heard of that. Every one of my friends that got married had both

Re: bridal shower vs bachelorette party
No, most people have both! The shower can be a big surprise if you want that , and a friend of mine even had the bachelorette be a sort of surprise (she knew when but didn't plan any of it). That was hard on us (the bridesmaids) but typically the shower is a surprise and not the bach party. But really you can do whatever you want. My shower won't be a surprise.

Re: bridal shower vs bachelorette party
you better fire your wedding planner then!
Bridal shower is to give gifts and spend the day talking w the old married ladies of the family sophisticated and classy....
the bach party is the down and dirty girls only and usualy involving flowing alcohol and a peen or two

Re: bridal shower vs bachelorette party
That is wrong. Well back i the day women didnt really have bachelorette party that was more the guys thing. Women would have a shower along with entertainment at the shower like lingerie stripper etc. it wouldnt be two separate events but thats old school! I wouldnt want the older folks around lmao. Thats why they are two sparate things

Re: bridal shower vs bachelorette party
It depends on the finances of whomever is planning the events but usually the bride has a shower & the bparty. In 2012 you can do whatever makes you happy.
