The shower is typically the few months before the wedding, mine is about 6 weeks prior, and my invites are going out I think 6 weeks before that.
Invites next week, shower March 24, Wedding May 12th.

Sounds about right. my sister sent out my shower invites on Wednesday for my March 31st shower, and I'm getting married May 6th.
