Bridal Shower/Baby Shower Etiquette

Bridal Shower/Baby Shower Etiquette

So, I was planning my wedding to be in August, but I just found out I'm pregnant and due in July! So, now I am looking to move the wedding up to February. Do you think having a bridal shower in Jan. and a baby shower in June is rude? I think I read somewhere that you shouldn't have both in the same year - however, I don't want to miss out on having a bridal shower because I happened to get pregnant, and I don't want to miss out on a baby shower. My mother says that its family and friends who attend and if they care about you they will come to both. But my FI says that he thinks its too much for people. I am torn...HELP!!!

I agree with you mom on this one. Getting married and having a baby are two huge event in your life and you shouldn't miss out any part of it. It's not like you are going to be getting married every year or havign a babies every yr. Your friends and family will be there.

and congrats on the prego

First off Congrats!!

Secondly - your mother is right. My sister was pregnant when she got married and planned the wedding in 8 weeks. We still had a bridal shower for her and then 6 months later had the baby shower. It's perfectly fine!

Congrats. I am in the same boat! Baby is due in March & we are having the wedding in June.

Do whatever make YOU WANT. My BMs were insistant that I should get BOTH a baby shower & a bridal shower b/c they don't want me to miss out on stuff. I had my doubts about having 2 showers b/c I felt like I would appear greedy. Asking people to come to 2 showers (with many travelling) giving 2 shower gifts & a wedding gift all within a few months bothered me. But do what YOU want.

What I decided to do is have a bridal shower with family and a baby shower with friends. This way I get both but people don't feel bombarded into giving 2 gifts & coming to 2 showers. I registered at Crate & Barrel & BuyBuy Baby & Babies R Us, so I don't feel like I am missing out on anything.

Good luck & Congrats! FM me if you have any other baby/bride questions

congrats!
I wouldn't worry. A friend of mine had to go to the bridal shower, wedding and then baby shower all within 2 months of each other. There will be time, and it's to wish you and your fi well on your new life! Enjoy it!

Thank you everyone! I feel a lot better about the situation - I guess when its you you start to feel that everyone will think you're greedy; but if it were one of my friends I would be telling them to have both too! Thanks again!!

CONGRATS!!!!

RUDE??? Are you kidding me?? How can anyone think it's rude? It's two separate joyous events in your life and it's not like they are really so close to each other. Whoever wants to give you a gift will give one because they genuinely care. Whoever doesn't, you don't need it.

Once again, congrats!
