I cannot understand the nastiness of some people in the selling business... especially when it's their own store! I went to Isabella's wedding center in Brooklyn so my BM and JBM can find Bari Jay dresses that looked similar to the dress my sister wants to get. And OMG the couple who own the store were so unbelievably rude!
The women rudely commented on my nieces weight, insisting that none of the dresses would look right on her (except the busy looking one I didn't like, which she knew about from two weeks ago) because she has a big belly. That annoyed the hell out of me! I had to search for a dress for her on my own, because the women refused to help me after that... meanwhile that was the only dress she gave my niece to try on!
After finding a dress that looked great on my niece and her mom, we asked about prices. She got nasty with me, yet again, because she said she told me the prices two weeks ago. Um, hello that was a different dress in which my MOH tried on. How the hell am I supposed to know the prices of two dresses I never saw before until today?
And then the best part was right when we were about to order the dresses. The women said the girls all have to come in on different days to get measured because she simply cannot do that all at the same time. That doesn't make a lick of sense! Last I checked it doesn't take long to measure bust, waist and hips. They were really trying to push them into putting a deposit today, but I told my BM to hold off on it since it was more than expected, 75%, and she didn't have the money for it until the end of the week. when she asked about alteration prices the guy hiked the price up from what I was told the other day. When I called him out on it, he tells me some crap about us taking too long to order. I walked out at that point.
Sorry this was long, but I just came home and really needed to vent. You think people would actually try to be hospitable when trying to make a sale, not make the customer feel like crap.

Re: Bridal store VENT
I would have walked out no matter how bad I wanted the dresses and given my business to someone more deserving.

Re: Bridal store VENT
I feel the same way I would have walked out after she made the comment about your nieces weight. That is so uncalled for!! I went to a bridal store in bayshore and the woman was so nasty who helped me. It was the second shop i went to since it was close to home. I figured I'd try them out. The lady tells me it was to early for me to look. Meanwhile i called on the phone looking for this particular dress i saw in a magazine and they gave me some BS that they were sending the dress to another store. So if i loved it to come in and try it on before they sent it out. Well i did that and didn't like it. The woman did not even use the clips on me. She kept disappearing picking out stuff i hated and told me to try on anyways. Then she proceeds to tell me im wearing the wrong bra . At this point she only let me try 4 dresses on got annoyed with me when i didn't like any and pretty much made fun of me. All the while my mom and best friend are sitting there ready to punch this lady in the face... It was too funny bc i left and the woman tells me to make an appt in the spring ... Hahah I already got my dress at a wonderful shop and they never told me it was too early so they lost a customer bc of there unprofessional behavior!!! My mother of course said we are never coming back here again loud enough for them to hear... hahahahah

Good thing you walked out. They don't deserve your business. Actually, I just re-read your post. We were going to go there after a horrible experience at another store with my mom's dress. Luckily we got the money back from that place but I called Isabella's though and they 'claimed' to be able to give us the best price. I think I read a bad review or something and we went elsewhere. Not sure if you are only looking in BK, but if you are I would try Dorris Fashions or Valentina's.

Re: Bridal store VENT
if you get the style numbers and colors..you can order the dresses from anyone that carries that designer, so don't waste your time with people who are rude.

I'm usually a calm and easy person, but I would have went 'zilla on their ***!! This weddingplanning has brought my tolerance level down! And stress level up! Don't give them your business and make sure none of your friends ever do either!!

Re: Bridal store VENT
For some reason a lot of the bridal stores in Brooklyn were very rude to me. I went to 4 places in Brooklyn dress shopping, and in two places I literally walked out. In one place I actually tried on dresses, but then walked out after 3 because they became so uninterested. There was one great place though. It is called Lotus Bridal. It is on Ave U. Wendy was probably the most helpful person I have experienced when I was dress shopping.

I got my dress from Doris,,,They did GREAT on price- really GOOD! But you realllly have to have patience they drive me crazy everytime i go in there. The store is realllllly small, I feel like everyone is always screaming in there lol i dunno it just seems very chaotic when I go for my fittings ( Maybe because its prom season right now also) But just giving you fair warning and a heads up...have patience

Everyone would be alot more composed than me. If it was my niece she mad the comment about I think I would have decked her in the face and than walked out. People need to learn to keep their mouths shut!

I don't understand why some salespeople are like that. You'd think they WANT a sale, right? It's so disconcerting. I'm sorry for your crazy experience!

Really? I went there and the lady, or should I say ex-Kleinfeld worker bc she kept saying it over and over, was a total witch. I would never give them my business.

I know what you mean, that's how I feel about Brooklyn too. So everytime I go into Long Island I'm always amazed at how nice so many vendors are... totally not use to it, lol.
