Bridal Store Vent--- With Update

Original post by LoveyDovey

so i put a 'good faith' deposit down on a dress in december, was told it was totally refundable yada yada...i tried the dress on a second time the end of december and decided it wasn't the one...

so i called them and said I decided not to get the dress, im so sorry but it's just not the one...the guy on the phone, who happened to be the owner was totally pisssssed...he proceeds to ask me why---which i was not prepared for and told him it wasn't the one and i found another dress(white lie!!!) and he goes oh, by who? and i was sooo shocked again i just blurted out maggie sottero,..(another white lie)

he starts flipping out well we have maggie sotteros here, why didnt you come back to us etc etc blah blah blah...and says well im going to have to get back to you i dont know what were going to do...

never calls me back yesterday, i called and left message

today the saleslady calls and asks what happens...i told her very nicely that I had a change of heart and I hope she understands--- i told her they didn't have the dress i wanted, etc etc...she was yelling at me that I didn't go back there and I should have kept trying on dresses with here etc etc...and says well I dont know what's going to happen with your deposit...

I said, I know exactly what's going to happen, I'm going to get a refund like I was promised...more arguing ensued as she said she didn't think that was going to happen...
She said the manager would call me back

I am so furious right now!!!!

wouldn't it be better business for them to say, oh im so sorry we couldn't help you- we'll refund your money as promised?? instead they are going to tick me off?

i thought about maybe asking them to hold my money and let me use it for jewelry or a veil...but now it seems like they are so pissed, not sure i'd trust them with my money for so long...

what should i do ladies?? i do not want to lose my money...and it's sitting on a credit card and I dont want it to gain interest!

(not sure if im allowed to say the name of the bridal store so im leaving it out)

****Update****

so the owner of the store calls me today...and says that the paperwork states it's non-refundable- I could KILLLL my mother at this point--

she apologizes for the behavior of the rest of the staff

and says a refund is not possible, it is in writing and signed

she offers me a credit to use in the store...

i reallllllly do not want to deal with them AT ALL...but i feel like this is my only option otherwise i lose my money. and i told her this, i told her that her staff put a bad taste in my mouth and i really would not trust them for future purchases- she assured me that she would be the only person i'd work with in the future

anddd i cant dispute the charge bc the cc company will want proof it was refundable

what would you girls do?

lose the 200 and call it a day...or try to find something in the store to purchase(MOB dress, headpiece, jewelry etc)

honestly $200 is not something i would go crazy about...

do they have head peices or veils take the credit and use it for something else...

I'm pretty sure you can tell your CC to cancel it and then they have to fight with the store. Thing is the store will just show them the paper that says it's non refundable and you signed it.

Call them, tell them you're disputing through your credit card company unless they promise a refund IMMEDIATELY. Give them 1 week to have the refund show up on your card, if not, DISPUTE DISPUTE DISPUTE. You have nothing to lose, and they've already LOST everything. a LOT of girls read this message board and have already written them off.

if it's on an American Express i think it would be refunded no problem.

i would not lose that $200....it's $200!!

i honestly would fight for it back and not give them the satisfaction of you purchasing ANYTHING there.

bump

any advice ladies?

Out of sheer stubbornness I would pick out something 200 worth even if I didn't end up wearing it. Get something you don't need to try on or is on backorder - nothing that makes you deal with them a minute more than neccesary.

Hair barrettes, maybe even a bracelet or earrings as a present for your MOH or someone in your wedding party.

Good luck

I would take the credit and buy something else there like shoes, veil, DOJ, ANYTHING else. If they've been THIS unprofessional once, they're very likely to act this way in the future and you don't want that much stress for your dress.
