Hey ladies, our wedding isn't until sept of 2014. When would be a good time to ask our bridal party to be in our wedding? And also when would be a good time to start looking at florist? A year before?

My wedding isn't until October 2014 and I have been told that it's unwise to ask people to be in your bridal party until about a year out. Basically the idea is that you might not be as close to some people by the time your wedding comes around and then you can't really un-ask someone without ruining the friendship. I got engaged in 2011 and I won't be asking people to be in the bridal party until this October. I'm glad I didn't ask earlier because I would have asked a lot of people who I'm no longer close with because we grew apart. Also, I wanted to wait even on the people I'm sure about because I didn't want people to feel like they were afterthoughts if I asked them afterwards.

Also, I'm not sure about the florists. I think generally with vendors the sooner you can book them the better so they're not already booked on your date. People tend to move fast when they find a good vendor.

I'd book a florist before asking BP. I knew my SIL would be my MOH immediately, so I got her out of the way. And I knew our daughters (mine and his) would be in it, so I only wanted one more adult BM. I just asked her on July 4th. I wanted to feel her out first. She's been awesome since we got engaged. FH just asked his last GM that day too. We're complete :)

I got engaged in April 2012 and just started looking at florists for my July 2014 wedding. I like to do everything early with vendors so I get top pick, but I think a year out is safe for a florist. My SIL booked her florist 4 months before her wedding, I think. Some book quicker than others.

I just asked my BP recently. I didn't really have a reason for waiting so long, I just did, LOL. But most of them knew they were in it because they're family. I have two friends who I've been close with for years and I know aren't going anywhere anytime soon. If I had less family and more friends to ask, I'd be much more cautious about who I asked and wait until about a year out, as somebody already said.

My wedding is August 2014, and since we're having a small bridal party, we asked them last month. Most of the bridal party is family and best friends, so we know we will still be close as it gets closer to the wedding date. But if you are unsure about anyone, wait until a year out.

I agree with this. However, I asked my bridal party after we booked our hall. Everyone that is in my wedding has been a part of my life for 10+ years, so I knew they weren't going anywhere. I still haven't looked at florists so I can't help there, sorry!

I asked my bridal party before my engagement party! It was fun they knew they would be a part of my big day when we celebrated our engagement!

happy Planning~
