I would give it to him at the RD, unless the 2 of you plan on seeing each other before your ceremony.
DH and I actually bought each other gifts on our HM and we exchanged them right away. So unless they're things that you want for your wedding day, you could bring them with you and do it that way.

DH gave it to me the morning before our wedding day b/c he wanted me to be able to wear it to the wedding rehearsal that evening.
