Bride and Prejudice

Has anyone seen this movie or heard anything about it? I'm going to see it with Lbf404 tomorrow. Thanks!

I hadn't heard of it until about 10 minutes ago, when Laurie and I were trying to figure out what we wanted to do tomorrow.

Bride and Prejudice website

It's from Bollywood. It basically sounds like it's the story of Pride and Prejudice (which I've never read) brought into the 21st century, and set in India. It's a love story between an American Man and an Indian woman. It's described as being funny, romantic, and it has musical numbers!

I would like to see it. Its by the same woman who made Bend it like Beckham, which I think was a really great movie!

The movie is not played in a lot of theaters.

This is the only one I found for Long Island:
Cinema Arts Centre
423 Park Ave, Huntington, NY 11743

It's playing in a couple of theaters in Manhattan.

I was also curious what you ladies thought of the movie?

I really enjoyed the movie. It was really different though! It was a musical comedy, but not in the sense of the typical american musical. The musical numbers were kind of cheesy, but so funny! It was a very colorful movie and we really enjoyed it. It's so hard to describe. Definitely go see it!

What did you think of the main actress, Aishwarya Rai? She is a former Miss World who is real popular in India as an actress now. Lots of people consider her real beautiful. As someone who never heard of her before or possibly never seen her before, do you think she acted well?

Were the accents difficult to understand?

The accents in the movie were not strong at all. I had no difficulty understanding any of it. I thought Aishwarya Rai was a very good actress and absolutely stunning.

Interestingly, yesterday I found out that this movie was dubbed into Hindi for people in India to watch. It is called Balle Balle! Amritsar To LA
