I know there is a bride who took her pics down there I can't remember her name though...I want to know if you needed a permit. I wanted to actually get on the Brooklyn Bridge and I called 311 & they gave me a laundry list of things I would have to do to get on the Bridge, but was that required for the spots off of the bridge?

Re: Bride who took epics at DUMBO
Why would you need a permit for the brooklyn bridge? There's a separate walkway for pedestrains so it's not like you want to be in the middle of the street.

she said 'ummmmm well here it says you need a permit to take pictures in any public location'...mind u she didn't say professional pictures so I guess we should all ticket ourselves for snapping shots with our digital cameras...i dunno it didn't sound right to me...but that's what she said.

is the photographer setting up lights and other big electrical equipment? If it's just a guy with a camera and you & your FH, then I would just go to the BB and start posing!

I happened to have bookmarked justshir for wedding pictures. She got married on the brooklyn bridge and there are pictures of her there. She was married in 2004. Doubt that will help.

I heard a report on NPR a few weeks back that cops sometimes harass people with professional looking cameras b/c it is technically illegal to take photos in the city!

We took pics in DUMBO and got lucky because didn't have a problem, but I know that some people have been told that they needed permits. It shouldn't be too hard to get shots in the BB walkway though.
I took pics by the promenades not actually on the brooklyn bridge,, I didnt need a permit

many places do ask for a permit, even if its one photographer and just a camera.
you can take the chance and just do it which used to always be my suggestion...well i went to gantry park in lic for epics, they saw us said nothing...also went there for wedding pics, we were kicked out within 20 mins, i was so upset, luckily we also had planned to go somewhere else after which was close by so we just did that.
unfortunately many areas do ask for a permit, doesnt matter if its not a big production...i didnt know we needed a permit for gantry park, i took epics there and the park employee saw us and didnt stop us...i was so surprised on wedding day when we were kicked out
