bride/groom seating???

Okay well my FH and i are going to have some round tables with the bridal party & their dates at them. So we were thinking of either doing the traditional and sitting alone together OR actually sitting with the bridal party. Has anyone ever done this before? I mean i know people have those really long tables with them and the party. But i'm talking about sitting at a regular table. Would this be odd?

This is really funny because I just posted about this. I kind of like the idea of not being in a fishbowl and sitting by ourselves. I also think we'd have more fun sitting with our friends!

I just don't know how to position it in the ballroom, because I don't think a rectangular table would fit where the sweetheart table generally goes.

That's how we feel. My FH and i are all about fun fun on our wedding day and some of the people in our party, we don't see as often as we'd like. So why not sit with them?

I figure... my FH and i can talk about the wedding after its over (isn't that what the bride/groom end up talking about when they sit alone anyway)? We'll have our whole lives to sit alone together! Besides, the group we have going for our bridal party... are too much fun to not sit with them!

If you can get a long table then I think it's a great idea...many places have the round tables though...ours does. This would actually make the seating easier for us if we could have a long table b/c our bridal party makes up about 20 people. I've seen it done and honestly thought that was the 'norm' for a while...but every LI wedding I've been to has had a separate table....but they were all round tables.

well we wouldn't do the long table. If you think about it... what does the long table really do? You still can't talk to anyone.

no our place has the round tables. So we'd just sit at one of those with our party (obviously we'd need 2 or 3 for just the bridal party & their dates).

I am so glafd you posted this because a lot of people told me different things. I am not having a bridal party just a MOH/BM so I didn't know what to do. FH does not to sit at a table by ourselves so we are having a 'sibling' table. It will be round and we will blend in and thats a good thing!!!

Some people were like, well people won't feel comfortable coming up to you if you are sitting with others or that they might want to leave a card/gift at the table but not if others are there. Hmmm, I hope I am not at the table that much lol.

Well why don't you have a card box and leave it by the cake table or something? that's what we're doing. And i too like the idea of blending in and not being in the spotlight the whole time! I want to be comfortable on my wedding day and i want to enjoy our friends company. The only hard part now is choosing which table to sit at!

I don't like the long dais table. It puts everyone on display and you can't really socalize. Also those in yoru bridal party won't be able to sit with their spouses/SO.

We sat by ourselves but honestly you are never really sitting that long. It's nice for some pics and it's a way to display the cake of your hall sets it up that way.

I would have liked to sit at a table with my family but there would be too many people on both sides to do that.

I completely agree. We sat by ourselves. We split up the bridal party so they could each sit with their group of friends. I'm glad we didn't have to choose who to sit with. We only sat down to eat. Our meals were served first so that once we finished, we could walk around and speak to our guests. Also, the day is so hectic that we didn't get to spend much alone time together. It was nice to sit down by ourselves and enjoy the moment.

NOT at my wedding! I am sitting my butt down and i am not rushing through my meal! I plan on enjoying myself. I'm not going to rush the night away!

I dislike when the bridal party MUST sit together at the long table without their dates. I dont like breaking up families and guests.

I put my bridal party with their families and Anthony & I had our own table.

Believe me you really dont get to sit down anyway so it wont matter
