Bridemaids that live in another country....

How are you girls handling if you have bridemaids that live in another country? I have been on the fence about asking FBIL's fiance to be in the BP (we have gotten really close), but we just found out last night that they are officially moving to Sweden which is where she is from. If I decide to ask her to be a BM, how do I go about getting her measured and what not? TIA

My MOH had a similiar situation, only it was in the USA.This is was what we were going to do:
She was going to have her measurements done before she left and then once we choose a dress, we were going to have one ordered that was close to her size. When it came in, she was going to mail it her to have it fitted and then send it back to me and I had it cleaned and pressed and brought it with me the night of the rehersal dinner or the morning of the wedding.

I am sure you just need her measurements to order the dress. And then just have the dress delivered to her. good luck in whatever you decide to do!

my FG is in England -- we are gonna look at dresses when she comes back to the states... then we're just gonna order a size up...

i also have a BM in pittsburgh and she didnt try on the dress but is just going to get her measurements taken and send them to me before we order dresses

My MOH is in the US but in another state. I imagine you can handle it the same way...1,500 miles or 5000 miles is all the same. She is going to a tailor/seamstress to be professionally measured. She is going to tell me the measurments and as well as her dress size.

I am going to the bridal salon with this information. I am also leaving the deposit for her which she is reimbursing me for later. When the dresses come in, I am taking hers and shipping to her so she can have it altered if need me. I am sure she will need at least a hem.

My thought is before I leave the bridal salon I am going to go over MOH's dress with a fine tooth comb..ok not literally but I want to make sure it's in perfect condition.

I plan on taking the dress with me to my office and pack it myself in a strong UPS box with bubble wrap. I am going to send it to her overnight service. I am sure it will get wrinkled but by the time of the wedding all the girls will need to get them steemed. I know you can't send it overnight but if you send it World Wide Express to central Europe it shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 days. I'm sure it will be fine. Trust me in Sweden she will have access to better tailor's than we do in the states

great idea! They will most likely come in a couple of weeks before the wedding also. Maybe I wouldn't have to ship it! Thank you!

I actually live out of state and will get a discount here in NC from the place I ordered my dress. So, I am going to get the girls measurements, order the dresses, send them to the girls, and have them get their alterations back home.
We are all going to try the dresses on together in August.
You should definetely have her in the bridal party if that is what you want, don't let a little distance get in between you.
