I just came across this article and after reading it I want to write a yelp review even though I haven't been there. Not sure where in NY this is but thought I'd share...

That's ridiculous...they can't enforce that. It's basically saying that they can treat you however they want and you have no way to tell others to stay away. If it were me I would tell them to shove the 500 dollars up their you know where.

This is seriously my favorite thing on the internet today!!

I not only read the article, but then I went to Yelp and read all of the, sometimes hilarious, 1 star reviews! THEN, I went to this hotel's website where they have since taken down the info about the $500 fine policy. But, I read all of their other policies. Check out their cancellation policy, if you need a laugh today. This place is OBVIOUSLY owned by pretentious d-bags. I feel bad for brides already booked there, but this has gone viral now, good luck to them staying in business after this.

All their policies are crazy. You can only cancel 15 days out (so different than most hotels which let you cancel 24 hours in advance). Although, if you're attending a wedding, they have a 2 day minimum AND you can only cancel 61 days out! How insane!!! I feel bad for anyone who dealt with them. They sound crazy.

You have to read the policies on their website, they're literally insane. If you leave a deposit for your guests to book rooms, you don't get it back until THEY are 100% satisfied that everything is settled. Reading between the lines, they're not giving you your deposit back until they're sure that no one left a bad review, no one disputed the charges on their credit card, everyone's payments cleared, etc.

I just read it but you could leave your reviews once the deposit is back. They also have all the rules about attending weddings in the area but how would they know where you go during your stay?
