Brides getting married in church...need help with time table!

Hi!!

We're getting married in a church and am not sure what time to have the ceremony. We're not having a full mass. Our reception is at 1:30 and the church is located 30min away. We want time for pictures and receiving line.

Help!!

We were thinking of a 10am mass?

thanks!

our ceremony is at 430 currently but I'm thinking of pushing it earlier to 4 b/c our RH is 30 minutes away and we want to take pictures AND still make it to the CH. This is somewhat factoring rush hour on a friday afternoon. I think your timeline is good.

ok, if your ceremony is at 10am, figure it will end at 10:30am.
from 10:30 - 11am you will be on the receiving line and greeting people.
from 11-11:30-11:45 you'll be taking pictures
from 11:45-12:15 you'll be on the road to get to your RH
after that, you may or may not want to take pictures before your entrance at the RH.
Either way, if you want to be able to attend your CH you would still have time to do so.

according to this, 10 am sounds good!

I was stressing over this too, but then we went to our chuch and they said 'you can have 4pm or 5pm'. well that narrowed it down! lol all that stressing for nothing - we really didn't have much choice. Just make sure you contact the church, see what times are available, then make your decision. I was under the impression that we could pick our own time, but we were given choices and it made it very easy.

here is pretty much what our timeline looks like right now:

3:00-3:45pm - ceremony
3:45-4:15pm - receiving line
4:15pm-4:45pm - pictures at church
4:45pm - leave with BP to take pics at separate location not far from church.
6:15pm - arrive at RH. Take some more pics at RH.
6:15pm - would like to have the first round of shuttle buses from hotel arrive with immediate family members to start taking those pictures and get them out of the way before CH begins.
7:00pm - CH begins.

Thanks for your responses ladies! We actually changed the date today to 10/9/2011 and a 6:30 reception. Thought it was pushing it with a 1:30 at the RH.

I'm getting married in a church and we are having a full mass. My ceremony starts at 2:30 and my RH is 45 minutes away. So the ceremony will end around 3:30 and then we will stay for 30 minutes to do pictures and a such and then we will head to the RH. So we should get there a little before 5. But I'm not really supposed to be at my RH until 5 because they have an afternoon wedding. So the timing kinda works out perfectly. My actual reception stuff doesn't start until 6. So that gives me an hour. But 6 - 6:30 is just champagne and strawberries while the guest are arriving. Cocktail hour starts at 6:30. So I think an hour and a half of pictures is going to be plenty.

You don't want to have too much time in between the ceremony and the reception for a few reasons. 1. Some people have no where to go. You might have guests that come to the ceremony and don't have anywhere to go in between. So you don't want them hanging out for 4 hours because then they are more likely to just not come to the ceremony. and 2. I was in a wedding that was at 11 and the reception started at 7. We had so much time in between and we took some pictures and everything but had a lot of down time. Especially the girls, who were up at the crack of dawn....but we got alittle tired. Ya know how when you are up early and you just keep going and going you never get tired, but then the second you stop for a minute it hits you like a ton of bricks. You don't want that to happen either.

Make sure you know what time your RH will allow you to come and have a plan for in between. Leave yourself a little time, but not too much. Thats just my opinion.
