Brides having full mass weddings...

Brides having full mass weddings...

Did you get approval from anyone before printing out your programs? Meaning, did you have someone from the Church look over it to make sure it was correct before going forward? I followed the book and also a program from a girl that got married at my Church but I'm scared to run off 100 copies before I have someone look at it. What did you guys do?

I never thought of this before. WOW - I think I better, just to be sure that there isn't anything printed that would offend anyone at the Church in case any extras are left behind after we finish. Our priest is pretty open minded, so I don't think we'll have any problems.

not up to this part yet, but I think it's a good idea. I think I will do this.

My church never mentioned anything about checking with them. I told them I was making programs it came up in conversation.

I would ask just to be sure. I never even thought of this.

I did from both the priest and the music director.

I was wondering the same thing. And I was going to call and try to speak to the priest, but just yesterday I called and talked to the musical director about settling my music choices. Turns out, she was on the phone with me for about a half hour running through the ceremony step by step and telling me the format of the program with what to include, etc.

To ease your fears, she DID say that there is no 'right' way. That there are some people who type out practically every word that is spoken except for the priests homily...and there are others that do the bare bones outline of the ceremony.

I think if you are unsure you can call the church and speak to someone in the office or something, but I guess I am trying to say don't worry if you don't.

Both the priest and the organist barely gave me any information. 'This is what song we play' and 'I read the Gospel at this part', so I'm having a hard time with my program.

They didn't even want to discuss it until the rehearsal, which was last night and I still walked away not knowing what's going on.

I guess I'm going to be very vague in our programs.

My church gave me sample programs, one for a mass and one for a ceremony......so it was easy to follow. I would ask the church if they have sample progrmas you can have.

Hope the helps!

I did the programs for my sisters wedding - we went off a sample that my aunt got from another wedding.

I dont think that the church cared what was in them.

Our church recommends that we have somebody look over it before it is printed.

What a great idea! I'm definitely going to have someone from the church to look it over!

definitely have someone from the church look over it and give them a copy...bring a copy to the dress rehearsal so if there are any other thinks that are out of the ordinary like family/culture traditions that they are aware of it

Re: Brides having full mass weddings...

I am having a page for naming the people in the BP, the parents, the priests, the musicians, etc.

the next page i am outlining the Mass with the names and composers of the music selections included)
1. Prelude
2. Processional
3. Opening Prayer
4. 1st reading (Specify reading and read by.....)
5. Responsorial Psalm (Specify psalm and sung by...)
6. 2nd reading (specify reading read by....)
7. Gospel (specify Gospel and read by Fr. .... we are having 2 priests, so I will specify which priest)
8. Prayers of the Faithful (read by....)
9. Homily (by.... it will be the other priest)
10. Marriage Vows
11. Blessing of Rings
12. Blessing Over COuple
13. Presentation of the Gifts (brought up by.... , music by...
14. Liturgy of the Eucharist
Communion hymn sung by.....
15. Presentation of Flowers to the Virgin Mary by the Bride (music by....)
16. Final Blessing
17. Recessional (music by....)

This is just a general outline of what I'm doing... I have to look up more specifically how the Marriage part of the mass goes...and make sure that's outlined correctly. that will be in your 'Together For Life' book that you received. As long as you outline the readings and Mass parts correctly, the Church should be fine with it.

HTH!!!

thanks! this is pretty much what i'm doing too but after the presentation of the gifts i have 'holy, holy, holy'....then the memorial acclamation....the great amen....communion rite (the Our Father)...the nuptial blessing....and then the communion song. then we go into the final blessing. Is that right? or do i have stuff i don't need?

Re: Brides having full mass weddings...

My priest actually emailed me an outline of the program so I'm just going off that.
