Brides - how are you getting in shape for your wedding?

Original post by hbradio

It has just come to my attention that I can go to NYSC for only $27 a paycheck!!! I cant believe I never knew this!

I am seriously considering doing this cause by the time I get off work and get home I am dead tired!

I am also guilty of paying for a gym membership i do not use. NYSC took over Empire Fitness, which is the club I belong to.

Did I mention that the pic to the left is about 25lbs ago?!?!

Did you find WW hard to stick to?

FH and I just joined a gym six weeks before our wedding! Nothing like leaving it until the last minute... He has been eating much better, I'm eating pretty much the same junk I usually do.

Although I did resist brownies and cake three times this week at work. What are these people trying to do to me?? Everyday there's a new treat outside my cube!

We're not going crazy, but it feels good to work out. We also got 6 training sessions each for the next three weeks. Hopefully I can get my arms toned a little...

On Monday I am starting on the Atkins diet. I was on it for 2 years and did really well, but then I went insane. LOL!

but I have a lot of time to lost the 30 pounds I have gained.

I just restarted doing The Firm tapes and Suzanne Somers diet (although not sticking to the eating as well as I should). Last year, I lost 40 lbs. doing this combination. Good luck!

No not at all - the thing that threw me off is the weekends cause there is no set schedule.

But then again dont take advice from me - I have major food issues!!!

Since I am disgusted with myself (I lost over 30lbs on WW a while ago and gained it ALL back ) I am starting a new diet on monday. I bought the firm workout system with the step thing and the bar. I have used it before and I loved it but I got lazy.

I am going to start exercising every morning and do my own versoin of WW. I am going to count out the points of my meals and just try to eat healthier. I just dont feel like writing it down anymore or paying to get weighed.

SOMETHING HAS GOT TO GIVE (and unfortunatly it has to be )

Good luck to all of us!

I am not doing anything except praying I still fit in my dress when it comes in. But I am lucky b/c my dress fit perfectly so I have to stay the same weight. I wish there was more time between the wedding and the HM to slim down though.

Someone please kick my butt into gear. I cannot go to Greece (our hm) with rolls hanging out of my bathing suit.

I am doing my own version as well. I don't want to be the girl who doesn't lose any weight!

My doctor told me the best way to lose weight is to make small lifestyle changes. Every week or every other week, get rid of something fattening in your life. So far I have gotten rid of regular soda, fast food, and bagels. Im still eating the same, Im just more aware of what I eat.

The exercising should help a lot, an hour a day and I am not going to quit this time! So that alone should be good since I pretty much dont move now!

I intend to eat more fruits and veggies and make nice big full salads for lunch.

Dinners will be smaller portion sizes, more veggies and less snacks!

...it all looks good on paper but I really have to stick with it this time. If I start now I have plenty of time to take a decent amount of weight off slowly and consistently.

If there is a support group where we will be honest and supportive and yell at each other than I am in!!!

Me too! On paper, I can do it....in real life, I have a hard time sticking to things for more than a week!!

I am making a WW thread on the Slim Down Board. We have to be honest though!!

Everyone who is not technically on WW should join into the thread anyway. Anyone trying to slim down is invited!!!!!

YAY! I am excited...for some reason when my mom or my sister gets on my case (evenwhen I tell them to) it pisses me off but having you girls yell at me will be better! As sick as that sounds!

And I am telling fatty (FH) that he has to keep his bad habits to himself & I am on grass and water til Dec 05!

Whoo hoo...a bunch of skinny minnys on these boards!

Re: Brides - how are you getting in shape for your wedding?

Girls, it is SOOOOO hard to lose weight. Anyone who even loses one pound deserves a standing ovation!! This is my story:

Since January I have lost about 20lbs (not steadily though)

I did Atkins for a month (it always works but I can't LIVE with it -- I lost 40lbs on it once before)

I quit smoking in March which brought my metabolism to a screeching halt and now, in order to shed a measly pound or two a week, I do the following:

Started WW about a month ago (first time ) was doing Atkins before that and plateau'd for what seemed like forever.

I have a membership to both LR & Ballys and I use them both. I work out for an hour in the morning then a half hour during lunch. If I miss either of those two workouts, I go to LR after work. So, I try to squeeze in 1.5 hrs per day 5 days per week (doesn't always happen).

I have lost 7 lbs (and lots of inches!) since I started WW and this exercise routine about a month ago. (But mind you, I have been working out at least 3 days per week since January -- just to give you an idea of how difficult it's been -- I've always been a little of a 'gym rat' though)

I had to do this to pick up my metabolism because I was completely stalled. The best advice I can give you is to work out in the MORNING. It's the best thing for you -- according to my DR.

No problem!!! It is great to have each other to help motivate. I have to decide about the gym with FH - from now til the wedding it would still be over $400 out the window so I dont know. It might be a good investment though!
