Brides on Weight Watchers
I am finally going dress shopping 1 week from today for my June 26th wedding. I am starting Weight Watchers on the 27th. Hoping that I lose the 15-20 lbs I want to lose, how much would that change my dress size? I know you can only go so far with alterrations? Any advice?? Thanks

Re: Brides on Weight Watchers
i was told that i can change up to 2 sizes without my dress (i don't know if it's different for other dresses!) being too affected...i don't think 15-20 lbs should be so bad as far as alterations!!
good luck!

Re: Brides on Weight Watchers
I lost almost 25 lbs and counting (on Weight Watchers) since the time I ordered my gown to now. My final fitting is this week and so far so good, no problems at all.My gown was pretty snug on me when I ordered it and when it came it needed to be taken in quite a bit, but they did it and fits perfect.
Don't worry about it... just don't let them order one size up than what you can fit into now. (They try to do that so they can make out on the alterations) They wanted to do that with me and I didn't let them. I told them I KNEW I would lose the weight and then it might have to be altered too much. They made me sign off on it and it was a great motivator for my weight loss.

Re: Brides on Weight Watchers
I want to drop at least 20 lbs before the wedding. - And to be honest, I'd rather have lost the weight and be happy w/ my body and have some slight diffiuclty w/ my gown alterations than keep the weight on b/c i'm afraid the gown won't be altered right. My whole bodice is beaded in a very specific design.........if i lose the weight, they'll fix it.
that's what you're paying them for ..........GO for it !! and good luck !!

Re: Brides on Weight Watchers
Well, you can have them hold the order for a re-measure. That's what they are doing for me. I've lost almost 2lbs on ww and just joined again last week in hopes of losing about 15-20 more. Since my wedding isn't until 11/05, they don't have to order my dress until 2/05. So right before they order it, I will go get re-measured to see if I should get a smaller size. Hope that helps

Re: Brides on Weight Watchers
I was on weight watchers for 2 years and lost 65 pounds. I got my dress a bit bigger then my normal size at the time becuase I have a big chest. I lost the weight and the dress store told me they rather work with too much material then not enough material. I went down 5 dress sizes. I am also happy and proud to say I have kept the weight off and have not gained any of it back since the wedding.
I wish all of you good luck with Weigh Watchers, it is a great program.

Re: Brides on Weight Watchers
I have been on WW for over a year (started before I got engaged) and have lost almost 35 pounds. It really depends on how big you are when you start out. For example, I started at a size 18W and I would say it wasn't until I lost about 20-25 pounds that I think I went down a full size (but that 18W was probably a little snug too!) If you are smaller to begin with, however, 20-25 pounds could be 2 or 3 sizes smaller.Hope that helps. I am only 6 weeks away from the big day, and just trying to maintain at this point. If I don't gain, I will be delighted since I had my first fitting last weekend. If you want some tips, feel free to FM me.
Also wanted to add- the weightwatchers.com website also has message boards, which I have found helpful from time to time.

Re: Brides on Weight Watchers
I've lost about 20 more lbs since ordering my dress and it needs to be taken in a little but it'll work out fine. Do you have to order this early? Maybe wait to see what happens in a couple of months and then order it.

Re: Brides on Weight Watchers
I am 5'11, so it wont be that bad since Im not that short. Im only 9 months before the wedding. So depending on which dress I order, I will probably wait 2 weeks or so and go back to try on my favorite 2 or 3 dresses and make a final decision then. I am only going to let them order the size they measure me for and nothing biggerWelcome New Vendors
