Do you think you'll regret getting married so young. Everyone is telling me that i should get married in my thirthies after i've lived and experienced everything. I personally think thats a bunch of bull. I love FH so why wait, besides its so cute when you're young and married.

Re: Brides under 25
I don't think I will regret it at all. I hear the same thing from people, I wish they would mind their own business. Plus, 25 really isn't THAT young. People used to get marriend when they were 18 or 20. I think this is the perfect age, you are old enough to know what you want and know and love yourself, and you are young enough to enjoy your married for a year or so before you have children.
Geesh 30! I want to have a child before then. My clocks a-tickin!!!

I will be 23 and married...I have constantly heard 'oh you are too young' but I think that that is way too general of a statement to be making....Some 23 year olds may be too young, But I have done a lot of living in my 23 years... I have lived in various parts of the country, gone to school, had some serious and some not so serious boyfriends prior to FI, (the list could go on and on)....and all of these things have made me not only stronger and more mature but made me realize what is most important to me....Being the wife of the man that I love, I saw no reason to wait. I think the biggest sign that I, at 23 am ready to be married is that I really could care less if people think I am too young! I know that I am ready, and marrying the man that is perfect for me

I am 24 also. I agree that it depends on ones maturity. I know lots of people my age who are not married yet and I can't even imagine them getting married, they are soo immature.
Also, I have been living with FH for almost 4 years now. At this point, what difference should my age make?

I'm 23, will still be 23 when I get married. Believe it or not, I haven't heard 'you're too young' very often. The few times I do hear it, I ignore it because these are the same people who will say 'You're too young to get married' and 'Why aren't you having kids yet?' in the same breath.

I do not regret it at all. I've been with my FH for 5 years. It just seems right. It's funny when I got engaged at 24 yrs old my grandma came up to me and said 'I thank god you are going to get married, YOU ARE GETTING TOO OLD NOT TO BE MARRIED!
She's really old school.

One more thing....It's funny because some people think I am old to be getting married, also, like my family and family friends front the neighborhood and stuff. But then, at work where people don't get married till thier 50, they dont' say anything until they find out my age and they're like 'you're still a baby' and I'm like shut up you old fart!

Re: Brides under 25
I'm 24... I was 21 and 9 days old when I got engaged. Everyone was freaking out as if I was going to get married that second. FH is 7 years older than me. I waited a bit... then started wedding planning... and now I'll be married at 24. I think that it depends on the maturity level and if you feel ready. I have been living on my own with FH since I was just a little over 21 and there was never any question in my mind that he was the one. So I know I'm doing the right thing. And don't worry......... trust your instincts..... people who say, 'don't get married young, you haven't lived yet' are just saying that because they haven't been lucky enough to find that special person yet.

Re: Brides under 25
I got married 2 months after turning 25, so I don't know if I belong on this thread because I'm not 'under' 25, but I did get engaged at 23. I have no regrets because for me and my life, it was the perfect time! Each person is different and has unique experiences. I don't think people should be fixated on what the 'right' age is. I think brides of all ages should be fully celebrated.

I love the fact that I'm getting married young. It will give me more time to be married to my sweetheart and more time to spend with him alone before we decide to have children. To me, age was never a factor. I have always known he is the one, so why sit around and wait just because I'm young? I would never regret becoming engaged at 21 and am glad we waited a few years before getting married-- It gave us the time to get to know each other even better and work out a lot of stuff.

Re: Brides under 25
dh and i are both 25...we started dating at 18 and if we had the will and the way we would've gotten married sooner! (dh 'proposed' to me on our 2 month anniversary ) we officially got engaged two years ago at 23.
having said that, waiting, although it thoroughly sucked, made it all worth while because everything worked out so perfectly timing could not have been better!
so although emotionally we were ready early on, we weren't ready until we both finished school, had jobs and were settled financially

I'm 25 now and have been with my FH since we were 17. My family doesn't say we are too young, but more like 'thank god he finally put a ring on her finger.'
Its people at work who think I'm a baby yet, but we love each other and have for over 7 years, that's longer than most married couples, regardless of age!

I'm 23 and I have no regrets at all. We have been together forever and I know he's the one so I see no point in waiting until I'm 30. Besides we are practically married already.

Re: Brides under 25
I'm an 04 bride but wanted to say, I was 22 when I got married, 23 now and have no regrets at all. I did get the you are too young to get married and hated it. I'm happily married now, DH is almost 28. edited to say we got engaged for our one year anniversary and were engaged for almost two years. I know some people are young but have been together since their teens, not my case and again, happily married!
