Brides who got married at St. Joseph's in Ronk??????

okay so a post on 2010 board got me curious...

we're discussing what to throw after the ceremony, or to blow bubbles, ribbon wands, etc...

now, at our first meeting w/St. Joseph's, we were told that nothing can be thrown, only bubble's can be blown.

IM SO UPSET ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IM SO TRADITIONAL!!!!!! i really want to throw 'rice' that is bird friendly

so basically, i wanted to know from Brides who got married there....were they leniant?? did u throw rice? or were they strict and did u have to blow bubbles or do something else?

please let me know how set in stone this rule is, because if I can get away with it, im getting stuff to throw!!

TIA!!!

I am not getting married at St. Joe's but my church is the same way. The rice is not good for the birds or something like that. A good option for you if that is the case, is this stuff they sell at Michaels...it looks like rice but is actually bird food! A friend of mine used that last year at her wedding, we made about 150 sachets of them and handed them out. It looks so pretty in her pics too! Just an idea...

yeah i know about that stuff...thats what i want to throw because i dont want to harm birds...

but St. Joseph's says that u cannot throw ANYTHING because they have mass at 5:00pm that the people who come to mass can slip on or something

thats why i wanna know of ppl who got married at St. Joseph's, to see if they stuck to this rule or if in fact, someone did throw the stuff from michaels or whatever

I'm not getting married there either, we actually haven't gone to the church yet (oops), but what I do know (from working with animals for a while) is that it's not that birds can't have rice, granted it's not great for them... it's that the church doesn't want to do the clean up after.
You can tell them that you will either make sure that no one throws rice on church property, that you will step into the street or into the limo and have them throw rice at you there OR offer to hire a clean up crew, supply a contract so there is proof behind it.

I personally don't want anything thrown or blown at us, but FH does. So I think we'll get into the limo and pop out the top and let them throw something while we're driving off.
The only other option I like is the releasing of butterflies, it sounds sweet and is fun to watch them grow.

We threw rose petals! Not everyone just the bridal party so it wasnt alot we did it just for the effect.!! We had someone from the family sweep it up for us. No one yelled at us! LOL.. Bird seed i would be careful of. It gets stuck in your hair very easily and would be a mess to clean up. I would either do the rose petals or bubbles...

I can understand no to doves, because of the airzone and because they tend to crap a lot... but no to butterflies because of the airplanes? That is just ridiculous!

See I don't like the idea of flower petals because a friend of the family actually stepped and slipped on one at her wedding and had a nice reddish/pink stain on her rear (but they stopped at 7-11 and got tide to go)...
I'd just talk to them again, explain that it is quite important to you and offer to have a cleanup crew, tell her that you don't want to use bubbles, that you're allergic to soap and you don't want it to go in your eye.
Tell them you can use the friendly rice, when you step on it, it turns into a powder and you just pour some water on it and it goes away.

I live in ronk. and know a few brides that got married there... and throwing things was a BIG no no.... I guess if you have someone sweep after its thrown its not a big deal if you dont tell them, I would think anyone I would feel comfortable asking to do that would be in the BP or need to be in pictures and that would make them late though.? But I have also seen people try to sneak and they have taken the basket of what ever it was being thrown away during the ceremony.
