Bride's who had/having a Band

We are having a band instead of a dj & I was just wondering if you had a band did you tip them & if so how much.

we didn't I know it is very mean of us but we couldn't do it. The lead singer was the owner of the company. We feel tipping has gotten way out of control. We already pay them $1,000's.

I wouldn't have because I found them independently (no manager, no overhead). And, there were a few bumps along the way.

But, my cousin had 'the money' and saw that there was approx $400 cash left, so she started peeling off bills here and there for them.

Hi Nov2004bride - I see that you used Renegade? That is who we are using . Dave told us not to worry about feeding them - did he tell you the same? If I had to chose, I'd rather tip them, but I'd feel bad not feeding them.

We had to feed them. Flowerfield requires that you feed all vendors. By the way, they were awesome

We gave them dinner and we did not tip them.
It was an 8 piece band and it would have been too much. They also played very few of the songs I had requested, and they did play songs from our DO not play list

I asked my band when I booked with them about tipping the owner said it was not necessary. We are also feeding them, but we aren't paying full price for any of the vendors we are being charged 1/2 price.

We tipped them but it was $20-30 each from what I recall and a little more for the band leader because he was who we dealt with. I agree that tipping has gotten out of hand.

Tipped $25 each and fed them. I wanted happy musicians. We had a 9pc band.

I think it depends on how much your paying. We had a 13 peice band and each muscian cost $1100. The band leader said that a tip was not necessary and to be honest I felt that they were getting compensated very well so I didn't feel bad about it.

We tipped our 5 piece band, but I can't remember how much. I don't tihnk $50 each, may $25?
They were also self-managed.

We are having a ten piece band. They are not independent, rather part of a large company. I do believe they are in some sort of union as we were told that if the band goes into over time, the cost for one half hour was a very high and extremely I mean EXTREMELY specific (rather than random) amount. It had something to do with a law for musicians or something like that. That being said, I hope to be able to tip each member at least $50. If they are as good as I know they are, I'd tip them more if I could afford to do so.
