So here I am re-thinking my favors, and the thought of donating to the American Cancer Society is crossing my mind over and over. FH's mom passed away from cancer 4 years ago and my aunt is currently battling lung cancer. I think it would be really special to make that donation and present our guests with the bracelets and little notes stating that we have made such donation and in whose memory.
Have any of the past brides done this before? can you show me your pics? How you set it up etc? Thank you so much!

That is such a thoughtful gift and I think your guests would really appreciate that in lieu of a favor for themselves.

Re: Brides who have done 'Donation Favors'
we donated to Long Island Cares (who feed the homeless on LI) we arent going to give anything out to our guests. we're going to put a sign in a frame on each table telling them that we made a donation in honor of our wedding.

Hollie aka hmpena did this. She put the bracelets in a white box with a red ribbon (her color) and sealed the ribbon with a monogram sticker. If you do a search for her name and favors you should be able to find a pic. They looked beautiful.

Re: Brides who have done 'Donation Favors'
FH and I decided to do a donation to Children's Hospital Boston. His family is very involved with fundraising for Children's, so it seemed a natural choice. Children's actually provides either place-cards or scrolls that say, 'A donation has been made in your honor to Children's Hospital Boston.' We're doing a $1500 donation, but just found out that our companies will actually match our donation (bringing it to $3000!!!). Definitely see if your company will match charitable donations if you decide to do this!
We're planning on placing a scroll at each place-setting.
We are doing donation cards through the I Do Foundation. They arrange for the donation to get to the organization and you can order cards for your guests to inform them of the donation. I think we are going to put a card at each seating with the menus

Re: Brides who have done 'Donation Favors'
we donated to the Lance ARmstrong Cancer fund.... as we gave each guest a yellow ' Livestrong' bracelet that was wrapped in tulle with a little tin of mints, and then on the tag, we explained the donation..... we said somethng like ' to honor our loved ones affected by cancer, a donation has been made to the Lance Armstrong cancer fund' i have to say that everyone loved the idea!! and we still see a lot of our guests wearing the bracelets even 8 months later... you can't say that about other favors and i figured even if they got thrown away or something, at least this way the money went to a good cause.... good luck!

Re: Brides who have done 'Donation Favors'
We had Donation favors for our wedding and I was so happy we did. My mom died from cancer 12 years ago and DH mom was battling lung cancer at the time of the wedding. She made it to the wedding but died 6 weeks later. Even though my mom was not there pyshically I know she was there spiritually on our special day.
We did a donation to NY Cares. We are putting a 'Big Apple' cookie at each place setting that explains the donation.

Re: Brides who have done 'Donation Favors'
We made 2 donations to the Susan G Komen Foundation. One in memory of my aunt and one in honor of a friend's mother. We made cards and ribbons, pinned the ribbons to the cards and put one at every seat at the wedding.
