What occassion/reason did your BP/mom/ give to get you to the shower??...
I'm really excited about my shower, and things are flying off my registry...My wedding is almost 2 months away, and I haven't received any 'invitations to upcoming events', no one has tried to make plans to go out w/out FH, so I was wondering...how did your family get you to your shower?

Re: Brides who've had their showers...
I was visiting and getting wedding planning done that weekend so I knew it was going to be at some point while I was there. My old neighbors when I was talking with them on the phone invited my Mom and me over for dinner on Saturday. So we went and there was my shower. My mom knew if they threw it at a restaurant I would have figured it out so they had it completely catered with servers. It was really nice and I was shocked..

Re: Brides who've had their showers...
My sister's best friend Sarah got married at Timber Point in June. So my sister tells me that Sarah complained to the hall afterwards about some things she wasn't happy with and they gave her a gift certificate to the Riverview as compensation. She invited her bp to go to brunch there, but her brother couldn't make it. Sarah wanted me & DH to come in his place. Totally plausible - we hang out with them sometimes. Plus, my sister knows I love brunch and would never pass that up!!
It wasn't until that morning that I started thinking, hmmm this could be my freakin' shower!!!

Re: Brides who've had their showers...
It was the a few days after my girlfriends birthday, so they told me we were going out for brunch for her.
They were good and sneaky too. Mocked a fake email that they forwarded to me that said 'Oh my mom wants to take us and the girls out for your brithday, hows Saturday?' So they made it very beleivable. I think they knew I would suspect something if they told me too far in advance.

I was thinking the same thing. The wedding is in 2 mons and I haven't heard anything. I know invitations were sent out and FSIL slipped a few times saying she got a new dress for my Shower. Other than that it's been quiet... Too Quiet!

They told me it was my neices 4th bday party. I even spent hours baking and decorating a tinkerbell cake for her 'party'.

I haven't had mine yet, but I'm driving up to NY this weekend. My father invited me to go out to a client lunch with him tomorrow. Hmmm...In all of my 27 years, I've never been invited out to a client lunch with him.

Re: Brides who've had their showers...
I haven't had one yet, but just received a myspace message from a friend of mine (who knows I HATE surprises) just telling me that she wasn't going to be in town April 7 & 8. (the title of the message was 'hint, hint')
Easter is the 8th, which happens to be my aunts birthday this year, so I wonder...easter a day early so my aunt can relax on her birthday? That's what I am thinking.
I find it a bit strange though because two of FMIL's closest friends aren't going to be in town that weekend. Their nephew is getting married in Florida on the 7th. I was thinking more the 21st of April because my mom keeps asking me if my daughter is DEFINATLY going to be with me that weekend and not her father.
Part of me wants to mess with them and 'make plans' to go to the city to the Museum with my daughter on the 7th just to see what their excuses are on why I can't.
