What touches did you or are you doing to make your reception more formal and fitting of a black tie event?

I'm actually starting with the invitation. It is my opinion that less is more. No pictures. No designs, no goofy over the top 'I love you' mushy stuff. Just a simple formal invitation which should more than indicate the type of function it is.
