I am wearing a strapless gown and I am getting married in a catholic church . I would like to know where can I get something like a bolero ( or fiited lace jacket) to cover my shoulders during the ceremony?

No I don't think that it is Mandatory. But i know that you should cover your shoulders and your back. So I would like to just have it. I would rather have it than not have and then they ask me to cover up
I'll give it a try, the only prob is that I live in Brooklyn and that would be a hike

i am going strapless and i am not getting married in a church, but the lady who was helping me suggested using a white shawl and she wrapped it in such a way that it covered my shoulders.

that sounds good cocoa I didn't check to see if it was possible for me to get a shawl with my dress or if it even came with one. I guess I could order one.

Try e-bay I got a satin wrap for my shoulders. I didn't even think to search for a bolero.

I wore a strapless gown and did not have to wear anything on my shoulders.I also got married in a Catholic Church.
I think that is very old rule from a long time ago that most church's dont practice anymore.

Ask if it there is one that matches your dress...My dress comes with a shawl that will cover my shoulders.

Before you trek out to estelles, you might want to give them a call. I was there last week, and they did not have any boleros at all, in fact the woman in the bridal department told me to ask my seamstress to make me one. There are a few on bridesave.com if you search for dresses under $250, on page twelve of the search results, there are a few boleros. They're pretty inexpensive too, under $60.
Edited to take the pics out, they're not working :(

Most rules seem to vary from Catholic church to Catholic church, so the shoulders thing might as well. I'm getting married in the same church as Aug21-04, I'm going to ask the church at some point.
I love the back of my dress & don't want to cover it. It will alredy be covered enough by my veil.
It has a high sheer back & wide straps, but still parts of the fronts of shoulders are exposed. (pic in my profile)
I'd probably go with a shawl if I had to, but boleros are good with strapless gowns. Just make sure the materials match if you can.

This is so funny that you posted this b/c I was showing my FMIL dresses I liked in a magazine the other day and she started yelling at me about how its so rude to show your shoulders and stuff in church... but every wedding I have seen no one has covered up.. I thought this was just ' her made up rule' lol
