Bridesmaid Blues

Bridesmaid Blues

OK long story so be prepared

One of my bridesmaids we will call her bridesmaid X has been giving me trouble since the start.
1st thing was I planned a bridal lunch for my three girls. We made the plans around bridesmaid X because she was buying a new house and wanted to accommodate her because of her moving. We did this months in advance and she told me that one Saturday she would be totally free. I gathered up all my other girls for this weekend and everything was set. Two days before we were to go she wrote me and asked that we change the time from 12:00 (lunch time) to 10:00 in the morning because she had to paint a room in her new house. I said no because all the other girls were set to go and if we made it for 10:00 it would be breakfast and not lunch. She then said that she would not go and that I didn’t even want her there because I wouldn’t change the plans for her. I said that the lunch wouldn’t be that long (not all day) and afterward we would go for the final decisions on the dresses and that would be it. She could be home by 3:00 to paint but that was not good enough for her and she didn’t come with us.
By the way we were done by 3:00.

After that day I told her what dress to get and how much it was. She did this (took her three weeks after I told her but whatever it got done)

2nd thing the shower. My mother told me that she had wrote bridesmaid X about the shower. My parents paid 100 dollars of their own money for both bridesmaids. They then asked them to give between 75 and 100 of their own money towards the shower. When my mother 1st wrote Bridesmaid X she said that in any way you can help with about 100 for the shower. Bridesmaid X at the time said yes I will see what I can do but I think I will only be able to give 75. My mother said fine and never heard from her for months. My mother e-mailed her again and asked her again to help with some money. Bridesmaid X wrote my mother back with a nasty e-mail saying that my mother never asked her for money and that she thought my parents were covering the money for her.
OK maybe there was miscommunication between my mother and her since my parents did pay for ½ of each bridesmaid, but I did read my mothers first e-mail (and she did ask for some money) and I did read bridesmaid X e-mail which was completely rude and disrespectful towards my mother.

3rd thing shoes. Well the bridesmaid dresses are in. I wrote bridesmaid X and told her that her dress was in. I said that after she has her fitting to give me her shoes to be dyed because I was having a surprised done for them (pocketbooks) and what to dye
everything together.
She told me no, Im not giving you my shoes because where I buy them I can get them dyed for free. I told her that it was only 15.00 and that if it was that much trouble I would pay the 15.00. She said fine you can pay the 15.00 because I have no money.

Now I understand that money it tight with everyone but both her and her husband work (I know they just bought a house) but you are telling me at this point 15.00 is going to make or break you.

Does anyone think that she doesn’t want to be one of my bridesmaids??? Because I sure do.

But now she paid for the dress and I am afraid that if I let her out of this she will come after me to pay for it. On the same note how am I going to even be around her on the wedding day because I really don’t like her anymore.

What do you guys think?

Re: Bridesmaid Blues

To me it sounds like she's more trouble than she's worth. It doesn't sound to me like she wants to be a bridesmaid. JMO. She was rude to your mother? Is this a close friend of yours or a relative?

I am so sorry you are going through this. Bridesmaids are not always the nicest people to deal with, at least not all of them. I am sure each Bride has a story or two or ten!
Just talk to her....if she is doing this for you for all the right reasons she will understand. Again, I am sorry and wish you lots of luck!

I'm not sure if she doesn't want to be a BM anymore... but one thing rings true, she probably regrets accepting becoming one.

I say have an honest talk with her, and ask her if she still wants to be part of it.
