Bridesmaid Dilemma!

Bridesmaid Dilemma!

This is my first wedding dilemma. I've already selected my Matron of Honor and one bridesmaid who happen to be my closest friends. Now...here's the dilemma, I have three other close friends I'd like to have, however, my fiance has 5 sisters! I have just one brother and NO sisters. I would like for my brother who I am very close with to be a groomsman and my fiance agrees. With my brother, my fiance will have 5 groomsmen. I can't possibly have ALL five of his sisters! I don't want an uneven bridal party and I certainly don't want the limo to look like a clown car with an endless stream of bridesmaids getting out. We thought of selecting one sister since I want my one brother but I don't want to offend or hurt the other four sisters. HELP!!

maybe you can choose the one sister that you are closest to? And his other sisters can be readers or be in charge of the guest book or hand out the programs, bubbles, etc.

I just went to a wedding this past weekend where there were 4 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen. It worked out great because each girl was escorted out of the ceremony with two guys. The guys did not escort the women in. All the groomsmen were at the alter with the groom. It looked nice. You could try t owork it out for the opposite.
But I do understand you not wanting it to look like a clown car!
Good luck!

Hey I will probably have 1 more bridesmaid than groomsman

No Biggie!

Have you thought about talking to his sisters and asking them what they think you guys should do? This way you can't offend anyone

Definitely speak to the sisters-if you are close enough. You don't want anyone to have hard feelings. You'll have to deal with these women for the rest of your life!

I have 4 bridemaids and FI has 7 users...it's no biggie...

The Bridal party is about you and your friends...
But I would definitely speak to his sisters and make sure there won't be any problems if they are not in the bridal party.

How important is it to you to include the 'three other close friends I'd like to have'... without them, the numbers are more balanced, and personally I think family should come first unless there is a strained relationship. Another possibility is to have a few of his sisters on his side of the bridal party -- its becoming more common for the groom to have female attendants...

Re: Bridesmaid Dilemma!

Well FH has 5 sisters and 2 brothers and I just have 2 brothers- I really wanted both of mine to be in the wedding party and FH agreed. We both agreed that we jsut wanted the 1 sister of his that we both are very close to. I dont think the other 4 got offended at all or at least not alot. All his siblings are much older than us (the girls anyway) and all married- so I think they fully understand.

As always-go with what you want and feel along with how FH feels- and whoever doesnt like it can go screw themselves!! JMO.

I would put all or none but speak to them first. Maybe, you can just have all the sisters wear a pretty coursage (sp?)..to recognize them.

We are having 7 females and 7 males and 6 little kids (yes I AM crazy )

I think you should do whatever makes you feel comfortable. I think it would be perfectly fine to have groomsmane with two bridesmaids each, but that is JMO.

I do feel that it is all or nothing when it comes to family- especially siblings- no matter how understanding people may SEEM, I feel that of you just picked one sister of 5, that there would be some feelings hurt.

Re: Bridesmaid Dilemma!

Thanks for your advice ladies! I think we are going to ask the one sister that my fiance is closest to and have the others be involved in the mass by doing readings and presenting the gifts, etc.. We'll also get them corsages. I suggested that we sit down with his mom first to see what she thinks.

I'll let you know how it turns out!
