Bridesmaid dress advice

Bridesmaid dress advice

Iam getting married at Waters Edge next September but live in London now. My MOH (my sister) lives in Florida and the other BM (fiance's sister) lives in England. I have decided that I wasn't going to have them have matching dresses since there is no way we can do fittings at the same place and I didn't want to order them on-line. Does it look horrible if they are in different dresses? I was going to have them try to get the same color but diferent styles and just buy them on their own. Do both have to be either long or short? I figured since there are only two of them it wouldn't look that bad. I need help!

Ive seen a few pictures of the BMs having different dresses/lengths but same general color, and I think it looks really nice!

I am doing 3 different dresses same color and sash. If you stay with the same designer most of the time, The colors are the same.

All 4 of my girls will have different style dresses, same designer/fabric/color....I think it's going to look good. I would stick with the same length though....IMO it looks better that way

Well I can try for the same lenght but same fabirc and designer are not going to work since they will be buying from totally different stores. They will probably be totally different styles as well! I hope it will look ok.

I think when a bridesmaid choose a dress that she's most comfortable in, she'll have a better time at a wedding and that means better pictures :)

The dresses don't have to be the same style or length, but it should be the same color just to have some coordination in there...if they choose different styles however, I think that's the best b/c they'll be wearing what they're the most comfortable in

You've got a tough situation.
I've seen the same color in different styles and it looks really nice. Different body types look better in certain styles so you'll know that your girls are all wearing what flatters them the most.

What if you pick a designer that you like and tell them the color that you want them to wear and let them pick which style they want from the collection? e
They can go to ANY dress store near them to order it or even have YOU order it from one place, ship it to them and have them get it fitted somewhere close to them?

Thanks for the advice. I am wondering if they can get the same designers in different countries? I guess I could just pick out the color and let them do the rest. I have way too much to deal with!

You can always try to get the same designers... if you go to the designers websites, i.e. billlevkoff.com they should be able to tell you locations in each area

I told my girls to pick any dress they wanted as long as it was black and below the knee. They weren't typical BM dresses. My girls ranged in age and body type so I really wanted them to feel comfortable. They all looked beautiful, and it turns out they all ended up picking dresses about the same length. Pics in my review and album.

since you only have 2 girls, if they are too different it wont look uniform. however, that's only important if you want them to look uniform.

you can check to see if some of the bigger names like bill levkoff, jim hjelm, dessy, etc are available overseas. you could also pick a place like ann taylor (assuming that is overseas too) and go from their celebrations line.

if you pick a COLOR and just let them go into any store you risk them clashing, because it's almost impossible to find the same shade. However, it could work with black. What color were you thinking?

You could also tell them each to pick a different color (that is meant to be different) -- like if your colors are pink and brown tell one to pick out a long pink dress and the other a long brown dress and you can give them each a pink/white/brown(?) matching bouquet to tie them together.

you have a lot of options!

I had all different dress for the pure fact I thought it was mean to force my bigger friends into the a dress my skinny friends could pulll off. so i picked a designer, and the fabric and color, and they got to pick the dress that was best suited for them. I think it only looks funny when you use different materials. I'd say your best bet would be to stick with a well known designer, so they will be able to get the dresses pretty much everywhere. heres a pic of my bridal party..ohh the other thing I wanted was that all of them had black sashes..

I've liked the pics i've seen of wedding parties with different dress styles. IMO, the fabric should be the same. if their are diff designers/fabrics, you may not even end up w/ matching colors bc of subtle differences in dying, lighting, etc. on the other hand, i don't see why your girls couldn't get the same designer in diff countries. try to pick someone international. usually you can get dress shop locations on the designers website.
