I think it depends on the colors you chooose and the season, my friends mom did this with pastels and it was gourgeous! It was 30 years ago and the dresses were stunning with the matching big hats that were so in style then, it was really breathtaking.
Recently I seen it done and the colors looked like they'd match in the swatches but didn't in the wedding.
If you do it be careful. Pick carefully. but it can be sooo pretty.

i was thinking of going with two pinks, two purples, and two blues, all medium shades, not pastel colors but also not deep colors, i wanted to do something different, plus i fell in love with 3 colors that the dress came in, and just couldn't narrow it down from there
SOunds pretty! try to post a link to the colors so we can see them, I love those three colors together.
It is hard to choose, I think my sisters are wearing Platinum and my other girls Navy, cause my FH is a US Marine and will be in his blues so it will make for pretty pictures. But I'm not positive yet either.

that sounds really nice, unfortunately the website for the bridesmaid dresses, 'romantic bridals' really sucks and either doesn't provide swatches on the internet, or i just can't figure it out
