How much before your wedding are you supposed to get bridesmaid dresses?
Also, can anyone recommend a place to go that has a large selection of bridesmaid dresses.
THanks

Re: bridesmaid dresses
It'll depend on the manufacturer, but you should order them 4-6 months before the wedding. It should take them 3-5 months to arrive and the BMs will then have time to get them altered if need be. All of my BMs had to have the straps of their dresses taken up so the necklines wouldn't be too low.
ETA--Forgot to mention rush fee. Some shops/mnufacturers will ship them quicker than the timeline above if you pay a rush fee. Again, the time needed depends on each manufacturer.

Re: bridesmaid dresses
Just asked the dress store this very question this morning. The owner of the shop told me that you should leave a minimum of 4 months - but they typically come in at 3.5 months...

Re: bridesmaid dresses
I was at lillettes this morning and the lady recommeded 6 months. She said she likes to get them in 2 months before the wedding and they take about 4 months to come, depedning on the manuf. Lillettes has an ok selection. I would go online try to decide what you like and then see who carries those brands.

Re: bridesmaid dresses
I just posted a vendor review of the NJ Bridal Outlet. It's in Wallington, NJ - which is barely in Jersey. It's less than 10 minutes from the Meadowlands....really easy to find!
They have more than 400 sample dresses and we had a wonderful time this morning going there!

Re: bridesmaid dresses
I just got back from RK Bridal in the city.
They have a HUGE selection with dresses at all price ranges (my girls chose one that was only $140). I would highly recommend them.
I wanted to get my girls to order their dresses early because 1) I have 7 girls 2) they have been known to procrastinate....so this gives them plenty of time to get shoes, appts for alterations, etc.
I would recommend about 6 - 8 months before the wedding, if you go too soon, someone might change sizes.

Re: bridesmaid dresses
Bridal Suite in Centereach has a HUUUUUUGE selection....i didn't order from there though - i haven't heard the greatest things. However, my girls tried on a million gowns. i found their dress there & ordered from Fantasia in Rocky Point.
