If I am getting married on August 31st, 2014, when should the girls order their BM dresses?

They usually say five months, so March. But I always err on the side of caution, so I'm ordering mine before Christmas. I'm also an August 2014 bride

I ordered mine already. You are less than a year out, so you can order them whenever. Mine came in really quick. They said they would take 5- 6 months, but they took about 2. But if you order too late, then bridal stores charge you a 'rush' fee. So I think you should go 5.5 - 6 months out.
I'm an early July bride and the dresses will hopefully be ordered by beginning of October (I actually wanted them ordered by end of August...). I want to make sure there's plenty of buffer room, especially if God forbid the wrong dress or color comes in.

mine is may and we got the dresses at the end of august.. so we did it 9 months out. I probably would have waited until October, but 3 girls don't live in NY and it was just easier to get it done in the summer
We got BM dresses right before christmas for my sister's wedding, and I remember the girls were all really stressed because of christmas gifts and stuff, so money-wise I don't really think that would be a good time to go with your bridesmaids.
Maybe late Oct/early Nov would be the best time, or in Jan.

My friends wedding Was in august, we went for dresses in march and didn't get them until two weeks before. I say go as soon as possible.

I am also an August bride, and I'm going to go either in December or January, to be safe. Last thing I want to stress about is BM dresses.

I would do it as soon as possible so it's one less thing to worry about..usually it's 5-6 months before your wedding. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and I'm in May.

I guess it depends where you go too. I am in March I went with the girls in August they had them two weeks later.. They told us 2-3 months.
