My stepsister who was one of my 5 bridesmaids dropped out of my bridal party yesterday (the day she was supposed to order her dress). She said it's because she can't afford to be in it. After discussing this reason with my mom we don't see why she can't afford it due to the fact that she has recently come into a sizeable inheritance...
I totally understand if she has money problems but she waited until the last minute to tell me this! I'm already behind with ordering the BM dresses! and I feel bad trying to find someone at the last minute to fill her spot... it's going to be $ they didn't expect to spend! I really don't want to have 5 guys and 4 girls...
I only have 2 really close friends outside of my family. One friend can't do it and the other lives in Oklahoma and is always broke.
I think my mom & stepfather might help my stepsister pay for her dress so that she can be in the wedding. I really don't want anyone else but family in it.
Oh well, this is my first snag and definitely not the last! It will work out!
Just wanted to share my trouble!

I'm sorry!!! Hopefully with your family's help she can still be your BM!!! I just really hope that she wasn't using the money thing as an excuse for just not wanting to be in it. I really hope it works out in your favor!

yeah I hope not too... she is in my sister's wedding which is this weekend.... And we all get along great and really care about each other so I don't know why she wouldn't want to be in it! It just stinks!

i am sorry but I totally know the feeling I had two drop out right before we were to order there dresses - they had $ problems too... but I chose to deal with it being uneven and did not ask anyone... so i have two girls with two men! they are soo excited!

Re: Bridesmaid drop-out!
So sorry to hear that this happened. But I don't think that it is necessary to have an even number of BM to groomsmen so I wouldn't feel pressure to try to find someone if you really don't feel close with that person.

Re: Bridesmaid drop-out!
I totally know how you feel- one of my bridesmaids also dropped out today. She was my cousins girlfriend for 2 years and they recently broke up - i didn't have the <3 to kick her out but she called me today and said it would be to hard and painful..
now with less than 6 months left I have 6 ushers and only 5 bridesmaids- I guess it happens :(

I'm sure it will all work out one way or another.....but you definitely didn't need the stress of her holding up the bridesmaid dress order!!
