My wedding is October 5. When should the BM gowns be ordered?
I haven't even selected one yet so I can't find out the exact delivery time.
I thought I had plenty of time until I looked into one specific designer (anakha) and found out their delivery time is 6 months!

10/5/02 too
I'm getting married on Oct. 5 too and I haven't picked anyting out for my bridesmaids yet either. I'm going to look tonight and I'll let you know if I get any info. But I think 6 months would definatly give you enought time. Anything less than that you may start to narrow your choices.

Rush Fees
I'm getting married this July, and I just ordered new BM dresses (I couldn't get the first ones..)and the bridal shop started to tell me about rush fees for ordering for a wedding up to July. They ended up not charging them because the store I found the dresses in in Albany didn't say a thing about them. So be careful! You don't want these shops charging rush fees unnecessarily, so give yourself some time to avoid the whole thing.

Bridesmaid Gown timeline?
I ordered bridesmaids dresses from Bridal Reflections in Carle Place in late November for my June wedding. They told me 4-5 months, but the dresses actually came in last week, about 10 weeks after I ordered them.

6 mos to be safe.
I know it totally depends on the mfg. I spoke with RK Bridal in the city and they told me three months minimum. I plan on ordering them late April for my late October wedding...6 months to be safe...just in case something goes wrong.
I have been a bridesmaid and ordered a dress from RK and it took way less than 3 months and I also ordered one from Jessica McClintock which arrived in less than a week and it that was with delivery!

I ordered online
and they all came in about 4 weeks. We saved hundreds. The sites said 12-15 weeks but they were in much earlier.

Rush Fees
This is one of the reasons I went thru Commack Bridal b/c there bridesmaids section is great EVERY store I went to told me I wouldn't be able to order my dress unless I order immediately or pay rush fews. When I met Bob at the huntingtion hilton in Janurary he told me how it was horse%hit basically and the stores are just afraid you will go elsewhere. As long as your dresses are ordered on a weekday during business hours the stores can call and ask how long. Or then can even call if they have it in stock and seen it ASAP. My BM dresses are Alfred Angelo and we are just waiting for my future SIL to make a deposit on hers and it will be ordered. I was told it would be in by no Later then April for my dress (moonlight designs) and my girls.
It's Feb 02 and my wedding is july 02 and I still have time.
I was given warning that after V-day anything up until Sept of that same year gets kinda hectic..

Re: Bridesmaid Gown timeline?
I am getting married in October 2003 and just took 5 of my 9 girls to get fitted and place a deposit on the dress at Macy's Bridal in Manhasset. The dresses are from Jordan and since that company gets their materials from overseas, their dresses will come in Sept. 1st!!! So I would definitely say at least 6 months ahead you should order them just to be safe!!!

Just as an aside, I would HIGHKY recommend staying away from Anakha - I have heard nothing but horror stories, and have even experinced their inprofession, unreliable, downright MEAN behavior myslef!!
