Bridesmaid HELPPPP

Hey girls,

I need help! It's turning out to be a huge bridal party for me and I don't want that! I only wanted 5 or 6 bridesmaids and now I have 7!

I never formally asked any of the girls because alot of them assumed they were bridesmaids and indeed, i wanted them to be my bridesmaids. Thats like 4 of them. (including my maid of honor) the other 3 are my brother's girlfriend (my brother will be a groomsman) and hopes to propose to her sometime in 2009 so if they are still together by then, then she will have to be a bridesmaid. then my cousin Olga who is very close to me family-wise but we don't hang out. Just at family gatherings, and the third is my fiance's cousin, who I actually hate because she is a pothead and my wonderful FMIL also hates her =) as does everyone else except my fiance's grandmother (her grandmother too) and the grandma is very oldfashioned and will have a s***fit if I dont include her.

What do I do?!! I dont want so many bridesmaids. If it weren;t for his cousin, it would be perfect. 6 guys and 6 girl.

Why does it go without saying that FH's cousin has to be a BM? If you haven't already asked her, then why do you have to?

It ***** because its MY wedding and this is one of those few things that I have NO say in. She is part of his family and as much as I don't want her in the bridal party, I know that if I don't put her in, I will hear about it for the rest of my life.

You dont HAVE to ask the girl you dont like, If you dont want her DONT ask her and his grandmother will get over it...... It's not her wedding

i totally agree with this. you're going to have photos with this girl for the rest of your life. what a tragic thing if you don't even like her. FH's gram will have to forgive and forget about this one!

I am big fan of the notion that it is YOUR wedding and you need to do what YOU & your FH want to do and not what any of your family says. If his grandmother is so into her being in the party....tell to to throw her own. That might come off as a little mean but I just hate when people put their 2-cents in when its NOT their event!!!!!!!

maybe have the girl you dont like do a reading (if you are having a church) or have some other special title...it will make the gma happy and you too so you dont have to have her in your BP

These situations can be very tricky. I have a large bridal party also, 12 girls and 12 guys. I have a very big family and so many close friends that I wouldn't have it any other way; however one of my FSIL is very flakey and I really didn't want to ask her, but how do I ask one of his sisters and not the other. So I had to bite my tounge and just do it.

I understand that its hard but at the end of the day if it really bothers you to have her in it then just say no and the family will have to get over it.

This probably won't help you any, but this is how I avoided all bridesmaid problems: NO BRIDAL PARTY.

My sister will be MOH and FH's best friend will be his best man.

CMS,

Right now I definitely wish I only had a MOH and thats all.

Thanks guys for your responses..i'll try to make a decision.

Yeah, I get what you mean. The truth is though, Just think of it this way, all that matters is that on that day, you are theo ne that everyone is looking at!!

I would just sit down and talk to your fh about it and see what he says. Can you talkt oy our family about it as well?
