need your opinion ladies. I have two neices that I'm including in my bridal party next March. At that time, the older one will be 15 (a sophomore in high school) and the younger one will be 13 (in 8th grade). Believe it or not, the younger one is the more outgoing and the older one is quite shy. I've asked them both to be in the bridal party but didn't specify what exactly their role would be. Originally I thought they should both be junior bridesmaids since the older one is shy and probably would feel uncomfortable walking back up the aisle with a guy and dancing the first dance with him but then I thought she would get insulted if I thought of her as a child. I need to decide ASAP because FH will need to ask another guy to be a groomsman if I make neice a full fledged bridesmaid. The dresses I picked were conservative enough for everyone to wear so that would not be a factor. HELP!!!!

Re: bridesmaid or jr bridesmaid????
At either ages, they are both considered BMs. My niece will be 13 next year when I get married and she is considered a BM.

Re: bridesmaid or jr bridesmaid????
But what do I do about the groomsman issue then? My FH does not have any young people in the wedding and I can't see putting 30somethings with a 13 and 15 year old.

Re: bridesmaid or jr bridesmaid????
I think either way is fine. My FH was the best man in a wedding a few years ago and the maid of honor felt uncomfortable dancing with him...and she was 30! Maybe you could have the other groomsman dance with his date (or Mom) and have the bridesmaid dance wth her date (or Dad). Just a thought.

Re: bridesmaid or jr bridesmaid????
While she may be a little shy now, as all the wedding stuff gets done and everyone meets and mingles, she might feel more comfortable with him as she gets to know him. If not, why don't you just ask her - I want to put you in the party but I also want you to feel comfortable. Ask her which she would like.

Re: bridesmaid or jr bridesmaid????
My future SIL had 2 of her husband's nieces as her jr bm's and they were the ages of yours. I don't really know what the cut off age is considered - ettiquette-wise - , but I would make them jr bm's. They seem a little young to be paired with 30something y/o's.

You can also just have them walk down the aisle together. You can have an uneven amount of people in your BP.

Re: bridesmaid or jr bridesmaid????
I'd say definitely a BM. The dance is only 2 minutes - I wouldn't let that have lead your decision. If you don't want to pair them up with older men, then just let the men dance with their dates and if the girls don't want to dance then let them sit out or dance w/their dad/brother/cousin -someone they're comfortable with. My FSIL will just have turned 16 and she is a BM - I'll either have her dance with my brother (a GM) or her Dad.

I would say the 15yr old should be a bm and the 13 year old a jr. bm
